Bringing this back to front page as it is an unresolved issue that should be looked at and Victor is around

I refuse! This MUST be patches, especially since they are announcing DA2

I had a long chat with Fernando today and what he was telling me was is kinda too late for DA:O, but this is definitely an issue that they have moving forward for PS3's.

"Too late"? They are still selling us DLC and whatnot, and they will probably bundle them into goty formats... being it is something that can be (rather simply) patched, why not? *rages*

It would be awesome to have a backup of DA save files, considering the fact that some people spend around a hundred hours across different playthroughs. Just losing one to, say, a bug (which has happened to a lot of players already) can be devastating.

Also, if you want to prevent trophy stealing, maybe just tie it up with the player's profile data. This lets us make a backup of our save file for personal use only. :)

I don't know, he did not give a lot of details. You are more informed about this than I am, so maybe if you message him you can get a more definitive answer.

Come on BioWare, this can be fixed – please get the finger out and do it. Nobody wants to lose 100+ hours of gameplay and making them do so is completely unacceptable.

Signed.

Im tired of having to compromise to keep the charaters i want and discarding the ones i dont need as much, its really tiresome to detele accounts after so many i created and wanted to keep but didn't have the space to keep them, FIX NOW.

There should be laws against this crap. If anything, the game is our damn property by the time we purchase it. Shouldn't we at least be able to make copies of our saved games...

Yeah its been two months since I started bumping this too. Please BioWare, can we at least get an answer to this, if its either being looked into, if it will be looked into, or if we're wasting our time.

You may be wrong there. You bought a license to play the game. You don't "own" it. All you have are the disc and some DLC you may or may not have. But still you only buy a license to play it.

Nevertheless, unlocking the saves would be good :)

We don't own the code to the game but one could logically argue that the time investment on our created savefiles gives us ownership rights of the savefile.

Im am so dissapointed, and devastated to have this as my first post on these forums, but last night, my PS3 died. The Yellow Light of Death hit me, whilst on my first play through of Dragon Age: Origins; 50 hours in. Approaching the end as far as I could tell. With a character i genuinely felt love for and attachment to.

At first i had hoped the death of my console wouldnt cost me in terms of my progress through my games. But as far as i can tell, the life of Cullon my Dalish Elf, is now over. Purely because you guys have copy protected the saves.

This is the first BioWare game i have owned, and to this day, i had only ever heard great things about you as a company.
I had plans to buy the majority of your other titles, to see if they were as good, purely because Dragon Age was fast becoming the favourite gaming experience i've had in my life.
I was planning on buying all the DLC for it, once i had completed the main story.
I was already excited at the prospect of DA2, with the possibility of restarting Cullon's adventures as you guys made possible with Mass Effect 2.
I was even looking forward to replaying this title, to experience  the alternate choices over and over again.

But now all that has been stolen from me. Purely because you guys have made the saves so archaic in a modern world, that you have basically rendered all the great, user friendly features of the PS3 pointless. And for why? For what!? Why does copying saves really matter to you guys at all? It doesnt. A very tiny thing on your end, can save thousands and thousands of players alot of heartache, and alot of time.

I dont know if its you, or its EA, but once again a very pleasurable gaming experience has been totally ruined by a trivial thing that could easily have been avoided.

I would like to think you for a great gaming experience upto where i got to,
And condemn you for treating your gamers with no respect, i hope you learn, or suffer great failure in the future.

Hello? Bioware? Answer something. It's tempting to post some random crap here, that must be deleted by mods, just to see if anybody reads PS3 forum.

I feel your pain PhoenixJR, I also lost my first character due to YLOD – I was nowhere near 50 hours though. However I've now put in 100+ hours over multiple playthroughs and I'm really hoping for a fix soon.

Additionally, even though we aren't playing as our Warden in DA2 it seems that the game is going to have the functionality to read saves from DA:O for key decisions and such-like. BioWare, now more than ever we need to be able to back-up saves.

This is getting well beyond ignorance on your part, leaving us hanging for months on end while players with faulty consoles lose hours and hours worth of quality time (and you guys probably lose some fans) because you won't release a simple patch – which is what it boils down to. This has been done in the past by other developers/publishers yet you guys seem to be totally unwilling to help the PS3 fanbase. ****ing shameful!

Apologies for the rant guys but I am getting really upset regarding this issue not being fixed.

No need to apologize, they don't even read this forum. Hell, a lot of PS3 games were patched to unlock the saves, only Bioware is "special".

I won't buy DA2 if I'll lose my saves, of course.

WE WANT A PATCH!

You want us to import the save data for DA2, how about you UNLOCK IT so that we can make it there!

In the meantime... Full System Backups: Do them.

Yes. It's extremely unfair on the many players who have devoted hours into this game, only to be unable to continue with their game due to this pathetic copy protection rule. People worried about using downloaded saves are silly, PS3 saves can be tied to the PSN ID, which locks trophy unlocking unless on the account they was created on.
