My cons: (all major issues for me)

-No customization of weapons other than finding a new one

-a small amount of actual varience in guns that is available

-ammo. It should have been the hybrid system that was advertised before (use it as much as you want till it overheats then it ejects a clip so you can keep firing,)

-planet scanning is worse than driving the mako around

-no mako. i liked driving it around, i just did not like driving it on the ground. So far in the future and you cant make a hover ship? what the **** bioware

-abilities that made vanguard "fun" are on other classes now. vanguard was fun when you could hit people with the shotgun and rip through them from 30+ feet away, now i have to be up their ass just to do decent damage to them. On top of that, charge ****ing sucks, and coincidentally, charging into a fight gets you ****ing KILLED. Where is my oh **** button that was the staple of vanguards? Barrier? oh Adepts get that now. Make charge not require a target so you can jump in and out of combat and your issue is solved.

-medigel is sometimes few and far between

-squad AI is better, but still subpar. if i direct them near a wall, they should auto take cover to the nearest wall or embankment. if they are getting shot at, they should find cover themselves.

-The PC ui is really subpar. Demiurge did a better job than you bioware.

-some people commented about crouching, but honestly I rarely crouched

-why do I have a huge ****all flipbook of things updating me that I collected? I know what I collected! make it smaller, and less informative.

-why do i have to answer an ACCEPT CANCEL to mark all my codex/journal as read? it doesnt matter if i mark them as read, its not like they go away i can always read it at my leisure.

-why are ammo mods seen as a power?

-why are tech and biotics on the same global cooldown. For that matter, why do you even have a global cooldown. The best part was chaining abilties together for massive damage. FURTHERMORE, some of these end up having a short cooldown, some much shorter than others, so you really only end up using one or two abilities in the long run. It just changed from spamming them all, to spamming the same one over and over.

-so far, jacob is the most boring character. So im a black guy whos a soldier, my daddy had a harem ALLIANCE SUCKS cerberus 4 lyfe BOOOORING

-zaeed is currently my favorite but you cant even talk to him like everyone else which makes me feel like you shoehorned him in there.

-you basically took exploration with the mako and replaced it with flying around nodes and having to buy fuel so I can pop into a planet to check if theres an anomoly and pop back out when there isnt (because im sure as **** not doing that gay timesink scanning game, and enjoy it much more when i used the me2_hacked to get 500,000 of each resource whenever the hell i feel like it.)

-no screenshot feature, but you can hack the screenshot feature back in there. Whut

-why do you have different keybindings than me1? sure, demiurge did the pc version not you, but you should have kept the same style. Hell, even dragon age had space to pause the game. Could it kill you to NOT consolidate (lol consoles) keybindings for the pc? it's not like we're running out of them.

-for that matter, why is there still ACCEPT buttons in 2010? why is there no mousescroll in 2010 in your game? Dragon Age had mousescroll, I don't believe you could make a believable excuse for this other than you having console favoritism.

-its cool i can change my armor, like the pieces, but like i said before, theres no variation, theres nothing to compare it to other than like 2-3 other pieces for the WHOLE ****ING GAME. I'm not asking for Shotgun VII or Pistol X. I'm asking for more VARIATION.

-The biggest problem is you're missing the "carrot on a stick" that all good rpgs have. What's the carrot on the stick in this game? What is it that makes me want to come back?

Right, I know. The $60 I paid on steam for the DDE, and wanting to continue the fight from ME1.

I hated having to customize everything for party members so IMO they did better there just let you focus on the main character.

Had to edit to say Vanguard does not suck probally the best class IMO. If specd right you can charge huge groups of enemys without dying.  I honestly don't see how you could think charge sucks.

I don't charge groups of people, i stay back in cover from about 20 feet or so and pop out of cover to use my collector assault rifle or pistol sometimes, and anyone who gets close is shockwaved, and anyone who i want to pull out of cover i use pull

put barrier on myself from jacob and its much better

i dont really use charge at all. it does piddly damage

-Is it really an RPG? (grey)
ME1 felt like a third person/RPG hybrid. ME2 feels more like a shooter with basic RPG mechanics. I think it would've been nice if they somehow made the RPG aspect a little more..... deep. But I'm fine the way it is. This may just be me but I can't help relating/comparing this game to Deus Ex. Anyone else feel the same

I'm going to only debate this one because it comes up alot when talking about WRPG vs JRPG.  RPG means ROLE PLAYING game.  The point is you play a role of your own choosing within the bounds of the tech (D&D offers more role playing than ME2 which offers more than FF10).   Bioware is trying a new game interface (3rd person shooter vs party tactical strategy) and many elements commonly attributed to role playing games are gone like say attributes but the role playing itself is there and stronger than just about any other game out.

While that is a valid way to define role-playing game, it is in no way something unique to the RPG genre. Recently there have been plenty of games introducing morality choices etc that noone would ever call RPGs eventhough they have roleplaying in them. Story-telling can be found in every gaming-genre, and using conversations and choices to tell a unique story is just an advancement of that. So yes, RPG = role-playing game, but the RPG gaming-genre is generally defined by completely different parameters.

A little late on this one....... I actually want to add a few more cons and see what you guys think.

-Anderson

Just doing a few sidequests before jumping the Omega 4 relay. It's too bad Anderson doesn't really say much after you see him. Which is too bad. I would think between Shepard and Anderson they would have alot to talk about

-Mute Companions

After playing dragon age, I really enjoyed how the companions just randomly talked. I kinda wish they did that in here. I would've liked seeing Tali and Garrus talk about the old times or something or Tali and Legion trying to work out their differences. Stuff like that

Anyone else agree?

I agree even in ME1  when your walking around the team members would talk to eachother. I would love to see garrus talk to grunt about wrex. I did feel a bit let down with anderson and with the coucil you woudl think they would want to talk to shepard more now that he is alive.

I also felt that they couldhave added more side quests. in ME1 you had tons of side quest one for every sector you enterd. here you got to hunt dow a few out side of the main story and loyalty missions.

I would have liked to drive around in the mako or some new version of it wail on missions instead of a laoding screen. i sorta miss the elavators cuse thats where you heard news and your team would talk to each other about the mission and stuff.

I did like the romance storys but They made it a bit sort. you only get laid at the end of the game. half the fun in DAO was beding morgan threw out half of it.

I still would have liekd to see a femal version of the other coucil races ((asari aside)). you do see one female krogen but shes dead on a lab table. so yah a bit of a let down.

I agree with what you said completely. Where are the females throughout the game? I only seem to see human females and asari

1. Ammo. I really don't like this. I loved the overheat over clips. There are two few clips. When you play on harder levels, you tend to run out. Maybe it would be better if I wasn't a soldier. It's not fun to die because of this.

2. AI, they things you fight are great!!! But when it comes to my teammates, well their just DUMB! How many times did I lose one because they ran to their death. Or my personal fav, duck behind something and not do anything. Like they are scared to pop their heads up.

3. CO-OP!!! This game just screams for it. It would solve the teammate AI problem!!!

4. The major lack of items!!! In the first they went overboard as most RPG's do but in this one it's like where's the beef!!! One maybe two?? Maybe when you upgrade the weapon it could change the way it looks. It would be better the this.

5. The outfits, I feel cheated on that one. Jack was the only one that looked different. Would it be that hard to make them look different? The first couple of times I changed their outfits I didn't even notice it.

6. Scanning. The first couple of times it was cool. After that it just became a pain. I now have a blister on my finger from holding down the trigger, NOT COOL!!!

7. Tali's face. I feel more then cheated when you didn' show it! Shame on you!!!

8. Level cap of 30? Why not just tell us their is no real reason to play it over again. Do I really need those 3 extra levels? NO! BOOO

9. Being good or bad didn't seem to really have any effect on the way the game played out. I could be a rude or nice to someone and they took it and moved on. Yeah, I got a few laughs but if I'm going to be rude to a nice person, something should've happened.

10. That light blue highlights for a safe or something to pickup is way to light. I found myself searching for one of those things left and right cause I had no clue where is was. That blue blends in with everything and makes it VERY hard to see/find.

That's my top ten.

I know right. they say they have females but I never see any at least the krogen explane why you never see any females with the female clans and isolation for protection explanation. but the salrians and turrians dont give a reason for being all male.I hope they fix this in ME3. I would have also liked to see more alien romance storys. only tali as my non human option. My shepard loves alien booty. he slept with Leira in ME1 and tali in ME2. of corse thats my personal cannon im going to band all the other females on my ship tog et the acheavments but after that ill set the cannon in befor ME3 comes out as hes an alien lover ((literaly))Posted ImagePosted Image

I agree with all your points.

I mean co-op would be awsome it would be great to port over my shepard into some ones game or take over their party mebers. ((would always be legion))

I was so pissed with them hideing tali's face I worked my ass off to get her in teh sac and all I get is her jumping on me than fade to black. two freaking seconds than cut to final battle? WTF?

I hope with the expantion they will raise the level cap cuse im level 30 now on my second run through and its kinda a let down i liekd the level 60 cap from the first game cuse youg et to by the thrid run through and you felt like you erned it.

I would like to ahve seen some little krogens runing around. I think it would ahve been a better looking scean to see if wrex had a few krogen women kneeling at his feet on his throne. also I wonder if turrian females are hot or not and drell women should be sexy if their men are some what atractive.

Carpal tunnel and glazed-over eyes after about 30 minutes of farming resources.  Awaiting console commands for the sole purpose of avoiding it in the future.  In addition, it curbs my desire to explore because I want to see the areas I haven't been to yet when I need to go get resources.  If I've been to a planet, it shows as explored.  I'd rather just fly around, see if there's an anomoly, and move on.

Otherwise, suggestions to improve:

* resources buyable with credits,
* repeatable missions that reward resources,
* Cerberus awards resources for missions (as they do credits),
* reduce resource cost of upgrades,
* allow substitution of credits for resources,
* increase amount of resources salvageable on missions,

Any of those, or any combination, would be nice.  :)

On that note I hope we get to visit the homeworlds of the Volus, Elcor, and Drells which I guess includes the Hanar. They should have a tatooine/ Nar shadda like planet next ME

For the scanning part, I detest it. To an extent it beats the mako. Even then there must be a better way. The Illusive Man has access to almost anything. Just request and pay him to get the stuff for you.

it was in the codex in the first game that there was a device that was hooked up to a large database on the extranet (me's internet) that had stored almost every dialect of every language (at least those in citadel space) and that it would automatically translate for you. the floating jellyfish people (their name is on the tip of my tongue, just can't remember) wouldn't even be able to commmunicate with other races without it since they takl with bioluminescence and not sound.

From playing the first Mass effect extensively there were many things that i miss that made it feel more open ended.

CON
I agree with the feeling that there arent enough guns. yes in the first one they only had different skins but still i could look over them see what had better overheat ratings accuracy and others, i also miss the ability to customise each weapon seperatly. ex diff types of rounds, combat scanners, heat sinks, all that good stuff that made your weapon feel like it was my own creation, mainly when i knew what kind of enemy i would face i could addapt my weapons to it.
They felt in the first that the weapons upgraded nicely with your leveling.

CON
One major con for me was the planet scanning **** i miss the Mako it made searching worlds more like an adventure not mindless scanning, all the worlds you land on are WAY too linear, Whats the fun going to a new planet if you know you can only go from point A to point B. I looked as hard as i could even got 100% of the map covered. Not that exciting. I do like the option of scanning planets better than just hitting Y and it being done with, its mainly the exploration of them that i didnt like in this one.

PLEASE BRING BACK THE MAKO.

CON
No selling of anything, if i could sell some of those minerals that i didnt even need at the end of the game. I wouldnt be soo pissed at my self for buying all those probes and not being able to buy the last two upgrades i wanted.

CON
No way points on the map, no zooming in or out or moving it in any way.

PRO
Loved the fighting very happy with it looked good and enjoyed trying out the engineer rather than the soldier that i played in the first. The Heavy weapons were the shiznet, if only the other classes had the options of this.

PRO
The story line kept me wanting more, after i beat it i wanted ME3 right then. and YES i wanted that reaper Tech. I like guns and lots of options:bandit:.

The universal translator was indirectly confirmed in game during one of your conversations with a squad member. I'm pretty sure it was Thane but not positive. They call you something and Shepard replies, "I think my translator just glitched. What did you call me?" Might have used a different word than glitch but the effect is the same. It confirms that at least Shepard has a universal translator so I assume that's the same for everybody.

Things that bothered me:
1. The lack of diversity in weapons and armor really bothered me; i liked the me1 system better than here.  I mean **** there is almost as much dlc content for different vendors than armor the game itself has.

2.Area transitions: one of the coolest things from me1 was how everything felt connected. you could literally run from one end of the citadel to the other barring some long ass elevator rides. But in ME2 all the zones seem fragmented and very tiny in comparison.

3. Planet scanning: so your fix for running around in the mako aimlessly over terrain is a just as mind numbing scanning game for which the rewards aren't very great since due to the lack of weapons and armor you don't need alot of material.

4. Ammo system: Ok change from me1 that I could deal with if thermal clips werent constantly out of my reach. Need to patch the clipping of ammo fall patterns so half of it doesnt fall outside of the area I can reach it. also ammo types as skill perks not an upgrade was just dumb.

Things I liked alot.
1: obviously the story; its what bioware does best and this game story wise is up there with their best work.

2. Ship travel/navigational map: Much easier than the first game imo and the tags on the star systems made it easy to figure out where I needed to go for missions.

3.Customizable armor good upgrade just once get not enough items to make it really worth it. Also the inability to change armor mid mission I could understand but also in cities was disappointing.

So i just beat the game, ontop of everything I said I'm going to add:

-No arena(minor)

Don't know why, KOTOR, Jade Empire and to an extent, Dragon age had one. ME1 had one I guess if you bought the DLC but you would think that by now they should've included it in the game

-No one moves(minor)

Not sure if it was just me but I traveled to the Citadel a few times and noticed no one actually walks. I think it would've been nice if you had a population that could walk but atleast you can eavesdrop on their convos now

-No public reaction (minor)

I understand this might not be the easiest thing to do but I kinda wished the public will react with some of your squadmates. Example, you would think that bringing Legion onto the citadel will cause a few stirs

Meh all the game play changes are for the best. The first mass effect had a clunky shooter gameplay i remeber fighting some krogan on insane 5 minute because they got to activate immunity and head shot or anything did not matter. The action in the first one just was not good. ME2 gameplay is much better everything is faster..... including your death!

I had one graphical hiccup so far. I must had 50 in my mass effect 1 first gamerun and you can add the texture pop up too thats gone in mass effect 2.

I dont feel like ill ever play ME1 ever again, even if i liked it alot lol.

My biggest problem is trying to find some Quest NPCs. It's nice when the journal says to meet Aria at the Afterlife in Omega. I can find him pretty easily. It's just when they say go talk to "Quest Npc". And Don't give a location as to where they could be located. I get it that they are on the Planet, but either adapt the Objective system with an "Active Quest" ability to point you in the right direction or bring back flagging the quest NPCs on the map
