Where to start with this? Oh, I know, me playing as a Vanguard for both ME's but this time finding myself yelling W T F every 10 seconds because Charge was developed by some guy that thought you could hunt bear with a throw pillow. IT DOESN'T ******* WORK!
Why make a power that will let the player fly across the screen and slam into enemies, then put enemies in places where the player can't go?? Devs.: "Hope no one plays a vanguard through this part... (insane laughter)" Except those parts are EVERYWHERE.
On top of that, when you do actually "slam" into someone with it (laugh) it takes away like 1/8 of their bar (health, armor, or shield), or does NOTHING. I could run into someone in real life and do more damage than this "Biotic Power".
How about when it gets "better" and you can supposedly knock around enemies in close proximity? Turns out you get shafted there, too. Slam into one, do jack to his health, do NOTHING to ANYONE else, then immediately get raped for the 0.3 seconds it takes them to kill you. Awesome.
Charge is the insult you throw at the guy that just owned you. You only break it out when the fight's over.
Ridiculous.
Vanguard + Charge = WORTHLESS.

It gets MUCH better later on XyA.
Feels very weak at first, but improves a lot later on.
As you get lvl 4 and Heavy Charge combined with cooldown-reducers and damage-boosters, things get much easier.
Are you on Hardcore / Insane btw?

I do agree it's annoying when enemies are in places I can't reach even though they're obviously right there. I guess it's because there would be no way to return whence I came

Hardcore. I don't see it mattering either way. I wouldn't even think about using it in the middle of any fight. Charge = death ... to the player.

Well, i'm on Veteran, and it's very easy with Charge there.
Just use it more tactically, not rushing in the middle of EVERY battle!
I usually pick off "stragglers" aka enemies that are a bit away from the main group and systematically finish them off (charging to them, finishing them and using their cover).
I have also been using it on several Boss-fights, especially to refill the Shield and get some good headshots in before heading back to cover.
It has such a quick cooldown so you can use it over and over again in a very quick fashion.

im playing on insanity and charge is not as useful as one might hope because of it. if you get close to enemies on insanity, you get RAPED. period. also it doesnt really do much damage. IMO it should kill any unprotected infantry (on health) in one hit and at least knock down any infantry regardless of whether or not they are protected. come on. its your special move, it takes a lot of time to recharge, and its very risky to do. for those 3 reasons, i think it could be given a buff without making it overpowered.
that being said, it is actually quite good as a finisher. if youre down to the last enemy and feeling confident, whittle them down a bit, pull out your shogun, charge them, and go for it. it does save time in an otherwise long and protracted battle. thats pretty much all its good for on insanity.
edit- its also a good last ditch effort if an enemy has already gotten too close and you cant escape.
bottom line, it has its uses, but isnt as powerful as id originally imagined it to be. before i played the game i thought it would be my fav power, but now that definately goes to slam. slam is AMAZING!!!

That's interesting. I haven't played Vangaurd yet but I gotta say, Tech Armor seems almost over-powered.

MY only issue with Charge is that it seems completely arbitary when it'll work or when it'll just make me glow blue whilst Shepard stands there getting ventilated by the Krogan ten feet away. The Krogan ten feet away who is in plain sight with no barriers between me and him. Yes. You totally can't hit that, Shepard.
I must be playing Nearsighted Shepard or something.

I find myself agreeing. I also thought we would be able to use the Charge as a tactical retreat to get AWAY from enemies. Doesn't look like it. One needs an enemy to use the power on... so... :| I'm really not impressed with what has happened to my beloved class so far. Folks keep telling me to stick it out and put points into Charge and Shockwave and their combined uses will prove to be handy. But... still, if I have to put points into these skills before they're useful, along with the prerequisites to open them, then I'll need to wait a half dozen levels JUST to be useful. What tides me over until then? Just regular weapons...? Either way, I am not enjoying how this was created.

I can honestly tell you that charge has saved my arse a few times during battle.

I do use it tactically... as in, if I don't use it solely to finish off the last guy or occasionally the last two, it results in death to Shepard.

Well XyA
I can only say, that is works as intended for me on Veteran, i have to try it on Insane (your difficulty) to comment any further.
But the main point is still there, don't spam it but use it with caution!
Needs a good overview of the battleground for most efficiency, so you don't charge into the wrong spot!
Works great for picking off stragglers, until the main group is weak enough.
Will have to test a bit more on Insane.

lol seriously I'm not a bad player... I can play every single fight, never once using charge and NEVER die. But what is the point of not using the vanguard's signature ability?
I'm just disappointed.

prolly a bad player, i found charge to be useful solely in a FINISH HIM moment or a way to close the gap to a LONE ENEMY, unless you upg charge to knock back multiple tangos it's pretty much meant for defensive/finishing move moments,
try cryo freeze to charge or simply use it after whittling down health. Pay attn to the surroundings and don't charge unless there is an area you can jump back into cover.
charging sniping towers would make an issue because charge is made to target ENEMIES not just places, hence if they let you charge everyone you can get stuck...

i know this isn't talking about charge so im a little off topic here. but im playing through with a soldier on insanity mode and for the first while i thought adrenaline rush was really crappy for anything then i started to play with it and experiment and suddenly realized how useful it actually is. I stopped dieing so often and now i use it almost every time the cool-down is up. while im not sure how charge works but it sounds like you should be able to use it to take down guys who are on their own also after hitting them you should be able to use melee to stun them and take their shields and armor down even further

I'm not sure everyone is grasping my thoughts on this issue. I know every single tactic that every single person here seems to want to try to provide to me... I know them, and I use them. However, it is very annoying to think that this signature ability is reduced to only being a plausible choice when you are finishing the last guy.
A single bullet is more useful and less costly.
I had expected charge to be significantly more of an offensive weapon. IMO it is underpowered and poorly implemented. Enough said.

Charge's primary purpose isn't inflicting damage first off. Charge's primary purpose is to allow you to close the gap between you and an enemy almost instantaneously, and get right up in their face with your shotgun and blow them to hell.
Thats what the Vanguard does. The Shotgun when used properly, is devastating up close, and charge is meant to allow you to use your shotgun to it's maximum potential.
The fact that it DOES inflict damage (especially when maxed out) is just icing on the cake.
I suggest that after charging, you use your shotgun and shoot them right in the grill

If you ask me, i would've liked Melee-combat to be much more deadly than it is (yes, i know there are melee-upgrades) maybe even implementing Melee-weapons such as Vibroblades and such.
That would work very well in Synergy with Vanguards Charge imo!

So, if you followed the instructions on how to use a weapon, and it malfunctions, you will blame the person who is firing the weapon?
I guess you also blamed Haitians for the earthquake, and probably blamed the jews for the holocost. You are a sick bastard.
