Greetings

I bed Morrigan during the game and at the same time romance Lelianna and then choose the later whenever they confront me about it. At the end when Morrigan tell me about the ritual I refuse, will I still die if I kill the arch demon? According to the epilogue Morrigan get a child anyhow as long as I've bedded her at least once during the playthrough. But I've never read or figured out whether it's just a "normal child" or if it acctually work that way too (in which case the ritual was nothing more than to make sure Morrigan got pregnant).

To answer anyone that wonders why I ask it's because I want to survive the last battle, while in a Romance with Lelianna, without agreeing to Morrigan's offer (bedding her before romancing Lelianna is one thing, but not after) and without accepting Loghrain into the Wardens. As far as I understand it Alistair will only sacrifice himself if I'm a female and in a romance with him, but since I play with a male that's not an option.

Thanks in advance for any answer :)

It is a ritual so I'm afraid you have to sleep with her again.

You don't know if the ritual is anything more than just sleeping with Morrigan. She may have done some preparations for the ritual we don't know about.

you must bed her during the ritual for morrigans offer to be possible. any previous sex doesn't matter. so it's a greywarden that needs to die.

As I recall, Leliana won't object to that ritual or even comment on it, even if you're in a romance with her. No need to worry about a lovers quarrel :-)

Been thinking about this yeah. What makes me wonder though is if she even knows about it? What if she confront me with it in a future expansion (taken she either know or find out somehow after the arch demon is slain)? I can see myself and Lelianna chatting over some campfire some year or two later when Morrigan suddenly comes walking in with a kid. Lelianna being Lelianna will obviously ask about the child and Morrigan being Morrigan will ofc answer who the father is and bla bla bla. But at the same time, if I don't I'll die and Lelianna will mourn... Bah, I dunno, I'll see...

You can ask Alistair/Loghain to do it if you don't wanna do it your self.

If you already bedded her at camp and refuse the ritual the epilogue will state that she is pregnant. It's apparently a normal child in this case because the soul of the Archdemon will get destroyed and won't get lured into the baby.

Mentioned this in the first post, I agree with Alistair, joining the Wardens is an honor, not a punishment. In addition, I don't want Alistair to be a wandering drunkard :innocent:

I meant, you can ask Alistair to do the ritual with Morrigan not sacrifice himself.

Oh, sorry, I missunderstood. Yea that's an option to, though not one I'd like to use either. I didn't like convincing him to become king (even though I really thought he'd be a good one) and I'd hate to once again convince him against his will to sleep with the woman he wanted to go under a bush and die;). Put Loghain with her instead? Even though I won't take that option because of Alistairs response, I won't give Loghain the pleasure of bedding Morrigan either

I'm struggling with this same question. I'm on my third playthrough and Im trying to do things differently this time arround (which means I should tell morrigan to go bugger off when she asks me about the ritual). However, I'm enjoying this character so much that I think this will be the one I bring with me to the expansion.

What should I do? Get one of the last achievements left to grab by preforming the ultimate sacrifice or go through with the ritual so I can keep this character for the awakening?

You can do both. Sacrifice this lad to get the achievment, then reload and let him live. If you like him so much why not to keep him?Posted Image

That's true, But I'd have to replay the final part of the game right? Might be worth it tho! :)

It's that or replay the whole game:P. It all comes down to how much you value the achievment.

Yes, there is more to it, Morrigan says it may be considered a form of blood magic and David Gaider said that there was more to it than just sex, they just didn't show it.

That's a lie! Morrigan was just horny.

From what I understand, Alistair will only insist on sacrificing himself if you're female and in a romance with him.  But he'll still offer to sacrifice himself even if you're playing as a male warden.  His approval might have to at a certain level though, or he might just take a bit of convincing.  But it's definitely possible.  Without brining Loghain into the equation, your choice is between sacrificing yourself, convincing Alistair to sacrifice himself, doing the ritual yourself, or convincing Alistair to do the ritual.  It's certainly not an easy decision.

Do you have the achievements for sacrificing Alistair or Loghain yet? (I"m assuming there's a separate achievement for Loghain; haven't tried it yet.) If not, you could sacrifice whichever one is in your party, thus getting a new achievement and saving your character for the expansion.  You can always save the self-sacrifice achievement for another playthrough.

That was one part of the game that truly got to me. I didn't do the ritual with Morrigan because I was with Leliana, I was not letting Loghain join because I prefer Alistair more........and then when Riordan died and it was down to me or Alistair......it was a very hard decision. I liked Alistair a lot through the play through, and that was possibly one of the hardest decisions I've had to make in any game. I didn't want either to die. First time around I sacrificed myself then reloaded for Ali ;p. I would say seeing Ali die was kind of much more bitter to take after seeing everybody celebrate while imo a good guy went down and people were acting as if it never mattered.

Note, my first playthrough was a human male mage and Alistair voted himself to do it, it's up to you to talk him out of it, if you don't he'll do it.

@ Lord Aravail and Hollorous: Thanks both for making clear the difference between playing a female and male when it comes to Alistair and the Arch Demon. As long as I don't have to convince him to do it I think I might be (relativly) fine with it.

No doubt. I was spared from this in my first playthrough since I romanced Morrigan and then didn't mind the ritual.
I wouldn't mind sacrificing myself if it wasn't for the fact that the expanison is playable with my character if he/she survives,
