My pc is an Infiltrator and I had Mordin and Jack in my party.  I was level 11.  I was doing the little sidequests that give you +40 exp, because I was close to a level up and wanted to get one before going on my next mission.  I got a level up after helping Liara with hacking terminals.  My pc got squad points but Mordin and Jack did not.
