Shepard was cold, too, for two years, being DEAD.

Well, he got quite warm upon re-entry.

Not surprising.

After all, she helped me to wipe out an entire human colony and execute Shiala without any strong objection.

Liara, Liara, you can peretend to be innocent, but you know you aren't. Hee-hee.

Ow. True. Thank the various gods for modern titanium-dipped tri-weave polymers and ceramic plating, otherwise there might not have been enough Shepard to revive.

Anyway, as I said in another thread, anybody who didn't like how the ME1 LIs were handled is obviously opposed to character development and compelling writing.

Liara is still there for the femshep I just completed the game with. her picture is still on the desk in the captain's quarters and she even looked at it with a sincere look on her face prior to going through the Omega-4 relay. I'm looking forward to finding out how this goes in ME3.... a couple years from now. Ugh.

If you romanced Liara in ME1, I noticed she does add a lot of "face nuzzles" to your reunion embrace.

I actually thought Liara was an imposter. Things didn't fit with my character and even my character said she had gone cold and wasn't her self. It was mostly odd because it wasn't explained in game. I truly actually thought she was a setup of some type against Shepard to get him to undermine his/her mission.

Liara does explain it in game.   Did you see the Liara conversation in the video that's linked in my sig??

Anderson was also not really himself either, nor Kaidan. I have not seen the Ashley part yet but will do so with my next character.

That's lame.  Why did they use the lower left hand side for that conversation.  I tried both the others but hadn't gone back to try that one.  Normally the lower left hand is the more rebel oriented conversation in this one.  At least I will go looking for that conversation next time.  I can see why people missed it though.

Yes. Allowing for choice in conversations is lame. You are spot on there.

Everyone except two people missed it!  That's why I added it to my sig....spread the message.

How are people missing anything? I thought we were all saving and then exploring all dialogue choices.

She's not cold. She's not a *****.

You're missing the end of her quest when she breaks down, and admits everything to you. Ask her where her anger is coming from, and why she didn't tell you earlier. You'll see.

still
she explains what she did for you...but she still ignores you and concentrates on the shadow broker
she doesn't even kiss you
and after a couple meetings she only talks about the shadow broker

I'm pretty sure that's only if you romanced her in the first game. I did her quest and did not get so much as a slight explanation and was kind of disappointed since her character change seemed drastic from the first game. =/

Can anybody confirm or deny this? Does she only admit not being able to "let you go" to those who romanced her?

She says that whether your romanced her or not.

Liara loves you even if she wasn't a LI.  Think back to ME1 and how she talked about you.

Indeed. It's a bit sad that the ME1LIs get so little time or development.

Hiding such key reveals is kinda lame tho. I don't know why Bioware went out of their way to make the ME1 LIs cold and unlikeable, but whatever their motives, they did succeed for many players who didn't chance to take that option in Liara's case. If you miss it, you walk out of that reunion wondering who the hell is that impostor and what has she done with the real Liara.

If you're a LI she does kiss you on your first meeting.  If not, she just hugs you.

Only talking about one thing after a couple meetings is just a writing limitation on Bioware's part.  What I would have liked is if you could get a hug/kiss every time you visited her, though I understand why they didn't do that.

Well, let's put it this way: if you romanced Liara it's still so much better than how the poor Kaidan and Ashley folks are treated.

(Metagame: she can't be part of the squad in ME2 because if she is she could die, and that means it would be hard to have her as an ME3 squadmate.  Liara is probably the only ME1 squadmate who will be a squadmate in ME3.  Not a sure thing, but she's the only one who can't die in ME1 or 2, she has her own comic series, and she's unquestionably the most important squadmate in ME1 in plot terms.)

I wasn't in a relationship with Liara, and I got the scene on my first playthrough. Didn't put any special effort in at all.

And I don't give a crap what her reasons are, it doesn't change the fact that she's undergone a dramatic change in attitude, and is much more hardened and cold than she was. No, it's not random, yes, it's explained. Big deal, she's still less likeable now. I wanted to clip her round the ear, shout in her face and give her a big "What the hell happened to the Liara I knew?" speech. Not an option, sadly.

When I first saw her, despite knowing that she had supposedly had a rough couple of years, I still thought - Oo she's a right **** now.

Then when she turned around and she reverted to her old self for a second when she saw Shepard, I suspected that all wasn't as it seemed.

I missed the "Anger" section of the conversation wheel during my playthrough, but when sombody pointed to a link of it on youtube it became clear that she'd had to adopt the **** persona to get Shepard back and survive the aftermath.

To be honest, the only thing about her that bothered me was that despite her being my love interest, all I got after two years was a quick peck and a hug. This is made even worse now that i've seen the "Anger" section of the chat and know what she went through to get me back, if she loves Shepard that much, then surely their first meeting would quickly result in ripping each others clothes off.

Sigh. FINISH the quest >.<

And she is NOT working for the Shadow Broker, in fact she's working directly AGAINST him/her.
