I hope i'm not getting annoying, but i'm now seeking HDD intel. Main points of interest:

RPMs: How important is this stat for a Gaming Rig HDD? Do I wanna aim for the sky, or can this be overdone?

Cache: I can't help but to wonder if I want all of this I can get. Do I wanna aim for the sky on this as well?

My Motherboard build uses SATA 3.0Gb/s so i'm targetting this connection type for my HDD choice.

(I was gonna use an available one already here, but the HDD i'm using now as of the time of this post that I was gonna hand-me-down to my mom is in this current puder build that seems to be running outta lifespan. By the time I get my new puder built, this one will be close enough to outta lifespan that I think i'll just go ahead & assemble her next setup sooner than later instead. This's stretching my puder budget even more fiercely than before, but if I pull this off somehow, it'll be cool to have more HDD space than the other HDD i'll use for mom.)

One more embarrasing question: How many MegaBytes = a TeraByte? Posted Image I've never dealt with TeraBytes before.

Western Digital Caviar Black series, especially the 1 TB version.

How many Mega Byte is one Terra Byte? A bloody lot ;-)

I've examined the WD Caviar Black, & Caviar Green. The Caviar Black has more RPMs but the Caviar Green has higher Cache. Since you recommended the Black, does that mean that RPMs are higher priority than Cache strength?

Nah, both have 32MB of cache. If you look at some benchmarks, you will see the difference between the two drives. Black is the performance line, whereas green is the environmental friendly, low power line.

Many thanks! So looks like Caviar Black is the winner! I'm getting the impression that 1TB for a bit less than $100 bucks is sweetness! The old HDD in this current puder is only 75GB. This new HDD is gonna feel like godmode by comparison.

Edit: Almost forgot, I hate it when NewEgg typos their intel, &/or fails to provide all statistics for an item. (ie HDD info failing to give RPMs info.) I can't tell if the errors come from NewEgg, or the Manufactorers failing to be thorough in their info giving to NewEgg.
