I'm going a bit nuts here. I'm at about halfway through the last bar on Paragon points, so they're pretty high and I have very little renegade points. My problem is when I'm doing Grunt's loyalty mission (haven't done it, don't continue reading so you can avoid spoilers :) )

Thing is, I bet the evil super-snake (hehe) and the Krogans come stomping in, but no matter how I deal with the following conversation I end up with 15 renegade points. I don't want 15 renegade points. Is there some way to avoid this? Do I need to max out my Paragon points to do this mission at all? I'm really unsure why I'm getting renegade points to begin with as all I'm saying is that it's Grunt's choice, at which point he tells them heck no, and they attack.

15 renegade points just go very poorly with my Shepard.

Anyone have a bit of help here? :/ I went back quite a few pages looking for something and I've tried to google without much result - I wish there was a search function at the forums...

Hmm not sure what you can do for this one, Krogans are just by nature kinda "renegade" so maybe it is kinda inevitable. You are trying to gain Grunts loyalty with this mission, maybe you've got to get a little renegade for him to respect you as his battle-master?

Wish I could help more but I pretty well embraced the Krogan way for that mission, even head-butted the douche-warlord and earned the respect of the shaman. >.>

Just to clarify, getting renegade points doesn't count against your paragon total. You aren't going to be punished in any way by having them. That said, if you just don't want them anyway, you could try wearing the death mask for additional persuasion to see if that gives you a paragon option? I wish I could be more help, but I can't remember the dialogue tree from that section.

Haha, yeah, I loved that interrupt. Made me wonder if Wrex rubbed off on Shep a bit.

Yeah, I just figured out about the death mask, I've bought it and I'm on my way to equip and re-run the whole dang thing to see if it helped, hehe. It's just frustrating because I'm loving the game so much and I want to stay true to my character. A small amount of renegade points here and there I don't mind, but that was a massive slap of them. I'll try one last time. It's also that if there IS a 'nice' option available, just hard to get, I really want it, because my next character will be a renegade and I'll get to see this solution then anyway :)

Haha, head-butted the warlord? That's awesome! Can't wait to try my renegade out!

Try saying "Grunt's with us" instead of giving him a choice. That seems inconsistent, but it's the only important variable I can think of.

I thought I did, once, and Grunt got a bit pissy and I got 17 points instead of 15 :D I might remember it wrong though, I'll try next time. Thanks :) Now to go through that entire dang fight again... I hate those worms.

Worms; Best thing to do with them is kill 'em.

Here's a thought: Most paragon points are for things that don't make you any enemies. Perhaps when you're forced to choose between two sides — when you make enemies — you get Renegade points whomever you choose.

Hmm. I've got the same problem, Nassegris. Nothing on the Wiki either =(

Pretty confusing to follow the Paragon route the whole conversation and then end up with 15 Renegade points. My total at the end of the conversation with Uvenk was 19 Paragon and 15 Renegade..*shrug*

Some missions give you both renegade and paragon points. You just can't avoid it.

QFT, 15 points is nothing in the grand scheme of things. As the person whom first responded stated seriously it isn't going to make a big impact on your shepard.

Just checked a video of that scene where the player picked all the top right choices and got 15 renegade points and 19 paragon points. So you come out with 4 more paragon points than renegade.

You get those renegade points no matter what you do. There's other spots in the game where you get Paragon/Renegade points for no reason.

On Tuchanka, renegade points are just a different color of paragon points.  Really.  Look at it this way; in other places, being a bastard, headbutting heads of state, and interrupting people with gunfire makes one an evil bastard.

On Tuchanka, you're being culturally sensative.  So, being the fine, upstanding Paragon you are, headbutting Uvenk and lighting the Weyrlok speaker on fire are really your only socially acceptable options. :)

Something that I noticed is that something triggers a different coloured armor for grunt once you complete his loyalty. I seem to remember once I ended up with him getting a white/blue loyalty outfit. But on subsequent playthroughs I now get black/red loyalty outfit. Anyone know what triggers the white/blue one?

It won't matter who in your squad kills the Thresher Maw, Shepard will still get the 15 renegade points.
