Just wounding if anyone else is finding the fight with the full squad in the proving grounds difficult, I can't seem to get him past half, putting an orange a yellow and two whites in a fight even with a full party just seems like they are trying to make this yet another tasteless luck based potion chug, I love this game but fights like this make no sense (hell I'm playing on easy and I'm a fairly experienced player just trying to relax.....)

Which reminds me, can I leave the dwarven city and come back when I've got a couple more levels on me and continue the proving grounds where I left off or will I break the quest?

Oh just remembered to mention, I'm rolling with my PC as a duel wielding fighter who will soon go berserker, I've got alistair tanking (failing at it really with out taunt....) mage and rogue. and PC is lvl6

Level up some, say around 9+ = easy fight.

Take a mage or two (preferably two), and use your Cone of Cold wisely. Keep him frozen up while you take out the adds & it should be okay. If you're lucky, you can catch him and two of the others in the Cone & then shatter two of them to make it that much faster (assuming their difficulty level is white). However, since you said level 6...maybe you should level up a bit too like Steel said.

How were you able to get your actual party members into the ring? I could recruit the two dwarves (Supporting the dwarf that is not the king's son) but couldn't get any of my party memebers in there with me.

IIRC only the last fight is with your whole party.

I got my butt kicked the first time I did the Proving Grounds, too. Probably shouldn't have done the Orzammar chain first, heh. At any rate I did some leveling elsewhere, came back, and managed to beat that fight without anyone dying.

IIRC, if you don't ask the two dwarves to join you, your entire party fights with you.

Wow, level 6? The Dwarf and Elf areas are level 10+. Circle and Redcliffe are 6+.

The dynamic challenge system still has minimum and maximum levels for certain spawns.

how did you get in at such a low level? I'm guessing no sidequests?

I went in right after Lothering (did the quest to get Shale, however) and I'm 9. Ozrimar has been difficult to start out with. I didn't realize it was 10+ as in the above post. I'm following Bhalen, so I'm not sure if I get to fight in the proving. I'm on the Jarvia base right now.

Yes, many people learned that the hard way. Still it is in no way impossible to do Orzammar first. Just a tad more frustrating.

I mainly wanted to get Oghren early so I can "shape" his levelling up more. this is something I learned from the Baldur's Gate games. I don't like the choices they make.

Is it possible to pick up Ogren, then just go do the cirle of mages and come back later? There seems to be no time limits in this game.

Yes, but he wont talk to you, which I felt was kind of sad.

I am at lvl 16 and I am still having trouble with the last fight. I got 2 mages working it, combat and healer. Along with Shale, and myself Rouge. Oh well, I will keep trying,

I did the proving grounds at level 16. Fought the first two solo. Last fight I used morrigan, wynne and shale and it was pretty easy. PC sustained an injury but that was just because I got a bit careless. Apparently there really are floors and ceilings for the level scaling.
