Yes! I think I was the guy who mentioned about having 5 Normandy SR-2 files not realizing what I was saving. I hope in the next patch they addressed that because Dragon age had it and I was like "Finally!"

lol so im not the only one who was scratching my head when "create new save" disappeared from the menu.
i mean yeah its nice i was able to get my copy the same time xbox customers got theirs but seriously this pc support is a joke (although the game runs seamlessly graphics wise)
lol i actually think its kind of funny, in ME2 graphics work fine, sound works fine (with creative x-fi) and heck, i havnt had any crashes. all Bioware had to do to keep me out of these forums is just the small things, mouse sensitivity, taking away the save limit (meant for xbox's low amount of system RAM/vRAM) and last but not least putting the word Badonkadonk, in at least one dialogue option

Gah, just hit the 50 saves limit. What's the point in a limit? Is there any easy way to raise it in the configuration files that anyone knows of?
Failing that, is there a safe and quick way to delete saves that doesn't involve deleting them one at a time, each one re-scrolling back to the top of the list. I deleted three and got so annoyed I just gave up.

I regularly spend about 120 saves per playthrough (based on ME1 statistics). Hit the crap save limit as well. I am also pretty upset that the function keys for weapons were not taken into account: I find it rather annoying to go into party commands only to switch to the specific weapon I need, or scrolling through everything.
Oh, and I also found an additional problem: the game does not delete quicksaves.
I know, you'll probably say that I should just overwrite the quicksave, but those things are not something I use, I quicksaved by accident and then I couldn't get it out of my saves menu until I deleted it manually from the saves folder.

I hit the limit without realizing there was one. I was in the middle of something so I ended up deleting my earlier saves which is sacrilege for me.
To those people deriding people for going past the limit: some of us like to save before important parts and see how situations or conversations play out, or maybe we like to have a save before a favorite moment. I still have folders of KOTOR saves, some characters well over 100. It's nice to have that and not depend on another complete playthrough just to see one particular moment again. Dragon Age didn't have it, Mass Effect didn't have it, KOTOR didn't have it; there's no reason ME2 has it.

I agree on all points. For the PC, it's a ridiculous, artificial limit.
Just like raskyred, I enjoy saving at key moments as well, and there are even more of them this time around than in ME1. I'm willing to do the work going into the .ini files if BioWare would just give us the line we need to increase the save limit. There was even a line in ME1, m_nMaxSaveGames=999. In ME2, I see a line for Location= under [SaveGames], so there just might be an easy fix.
In a related question, do devs even post here? or are they still on the old ME forum on BioWare?

I have found it hilarious that people will attack those of us for wanting more than 50 saves
why the **** do you care? it doesn't effect you fine but it does effect some people and its not exactly something that would be hard for BioWare to fix

Any word from Bioware on how to adjust the number of saves on PC?

I was hoping this limit could have been removed by a config file tweak.

Bump! I too would like to save to my PC more than the skimpy XBOX hard-drive will allow... Yet another instance where the XBOX drove the design of this game, graphics excluded.

Any word? You would think it would be as simple as a line in the config file.

Just adding my own voice to those frustrated by this limit. I generally like to save before any major event, just in case I want to play it out differently later, and I see no good reason to be required to start over-writing my old saves due to a purely arbitrary limit.

As a workaround what I did was made a copy of the current career folder I had under "Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\MassEffect2\\\\Save" and put it in the same folder so I had "Jane_33_Infiltrator_270110_1" and "jane_33_Infiltrator_270110_1 - Copy" folders, now on the copy folder I deleted all Save_00xx.pcsav except the one I saved last (in my case Save_0065.pcsav)
With that done I could continue making saves by loading the copy folder as a different career (switch career on load screen) and could load the older saves by switching career again, ended up using 84 saves
I would very much like to have a proper way to have more save spaces however

I like the move the folder approach but really it shouldnt be too hard for them to tell us what to put in the .ini to get rid of the limit.

Considering that I use around 350-400 saves in a single playthrough, a limit is really a pain in the ass. Especially when I want to go back to before some major point in the game and realize I accidentally overwrote all the saves close to it.

I'm glad I'm finding this out! Duh, quicksave is simple but what were they thinking putting a limit on the PC for just 50 saves? Some of us actually like to make checkpoint saves just in case for those "what if I redid this" moments or "reliving the outcome." Seriously? 50 for each character? Bummer...

That's what I've been doing, though it had me scratching my head for a while. Though as someone else has pointed out, having a bunch of saves all called "Normandy SR2" doesn't exactly help find the correct one later on - what were they thinking?RVonE wrote...
While not really a solution, you can go to the save folder and store a bunch of saves in another location. When you need them again you can swap them back in the save game location.

There is a console command that is RestrictNumberOfSaves, and you can set it to true or false according to what I read. I tried binding it to a key, but it didn't seem to work.

that console command thing sounds promising, hopefully someone can figure it out

Except constantly rewriting over the same save file can cause data corruption and cause issues with the game.
