I just got Mass Effect 2 for PC. So far I'm really enjoying it, but there is one technical issue that is really hampering the experience for me.

The game randomly has problems recognizing that I am highlighting over something. Let me elaborate. Sometimes, I'll be playing the game, and it will become impossible to use any object or talk to any character because the orange square will never go blue (ie. allowing you to use the object) and the name of the object/person does not appear at all. Sometimes, the blue box will flicker on, but not long enough to react and press spacebar to use the object. This also happens in combat, not recognizing enemies, and therefore not allowing me to target them. This is a huge problem because without recognizing an enemy, I cannot curve any powers at them. The powers just go straight no matter what since they recognize no target. Furthermore, in combat, not recognizing an enemy means I cannot see how much health they have or what defenses they still have up. It really breaks combat.

Now here's the thing. I can simply save the game, exit out, and restart at the previous save and it seems to always go back to normal. However, that is still really unimmersive and very annoying since this problem occurs rather frequently (every 15-20 minutes about). Furthermore, it sometimes will be half-bad. For instance, I can be in the middle of a battle and the game won't recognize a couple enemies, but will recognize others. It is just a really bad issue.

I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. If so, is there anything I can do to fix it?

Yes, I have the same problem. Particularly, with objects and conversations. Any solutions?
