While in the research lab I was locked in when I powered it up. There is a series of 4 computers to put some prototype reflective armor (Possible Ship Mod?) through it paces. Using these computers crashes the game.

Help!

Does it always crash the game? The first time I did that part it crashed my game too but worked fine after restarting.

Give your save game for a friend, let him try. If it works he just has to save after using them and give back to you.

What does that mirror puzzle do, anyway? It says you unlocked access to the labs, but you're already in the labs. Is it related to why the VI is labelled 'Survivor' in subtitles?

Yeah you're already in the labs, but the door gets locked behind you.

in my game too it crashes what i did as other people found a workaround in tech forum was move the 3 last plates (counting from the right) so they are at 45 degrees exept the 2 nd one that needs to be like this =  then you move the first one but look away from the window at the moment you activate the switch

...well, to be honest I've never had the problem with that mission.

It might be the audio which plays that's causing the crash. My suggestion is to copy and paste your save somewhere, and then reinstall the game.

Also if you're running vista try not to install it in a 'protected location' like C:/program files

Mass Effect Wiki had an answer that worked for me a month or so back. Basically, any time the energy beam hits a wall, you'll crash.

You want the beam to ultimately hit the generator in the middle of the back wall. Adjust every mirror but the first one, then trigger it and immediately look away.

He meant make Shepard look away, don't try to look away from the monitor/screen, it won't work. :)
