It helps with Thane's quest if you totally and utterly screw it up like I did when you interrogate the guy.

That's all? Wow im glad i turned them down. I was a good character but the councel are idiots. I saved them for no reason i should have left them at end of me1.

Question what happens if you let concel die is it just new member taking to you?

Its a human council that still throws the same crap at you. I accepted the Spectre position again since I think it'll be important again in ME3.
