Hey, I need help with this fight. I keep dying...I had another problem like this but it took me hours to get around it. I'm on the Collector Ship that turians "took out"...I'm at the part with the first flying husk-type monster. If it was just me and the monster, I might've been able to defeat it, but then the husks all come out and the collectors, and their is too much at once. I can't stay in one spot because that flying husk chases me around....I hate this so much...I don't want to change difficulty, and my heavy weapon (the Cain) is out of ammo...

Some one please help!

No help there. The Cain is a useless weapon. I used the Collector Particle Beam for those type of bosses.

Definitely a hard fight either way. I died quite a few times.

Keep practicing. I know it's hard and frustrating but it's a skill issue, not a problem in the game. You just have to have the right people and use the right tactics. Someone with area effect blasts would likely help immensely to keep the husks/collectors off while you fight the Praetorian. I suggest having a squad member with concussion blast fully leveled to the area effect blast with you.

What do I do! Strategies? Tricks? Cheap spots? I really want to beat this on insanity, and this part isn't even fun to figure out with that damn flying *sshat.

edit:I appreciate the help, but I am using Grunt and Miranda right now, and I would rather kill myself then restart this mission. That platform was hell.

Have you tried focusing Grunt and Miranda on the flying thing and you worrying about the husks?

It just follows me around, though! And their is no "have them focus on praetorian" option, i can just kind of constantly micro manage, which I suppose I could do, but iI doubt I could get them to kill it....I'll try it...I wish they had another heavy weapons crate, i have 80% for my cain, I just want to nuke that sh*thead praetorian...this isn't fun.

Q and E while viewing Praetorian. Makes them kill it and use powers on it.

Use singularity on the husks and collectors. Kite everything else. I used Miranda and Mordin.

I'll try this, I am not even having fun anymore...cheap and annoying. My singularity is only a 2 though, plus I'm a Nemises...hope that doesn't hurt my chances too much. I wouldn't be so reluctant to reload the mission and switch squadmates if it wasn't for the platform part at the beginning...never playing that again on insanity.

I lowered my game down to veteran and finished it on that, because it was too frustrating on insanity, and the point is to have fun =p

I know that's the point, but I actually wanted all 1000G on my first playthrough, lol...i might end up changing the difficulty, if I reaaaalllly start to bite or punch myself too hard.

All depends entirely on your build. I gave both myself and Miranda heavy warp. I also used heavy singularity; multiple collectors would get trapped and a heavy warp follow up should pretty much kill them. You should be able to chew through the armor and barriers of anything with no problems, given that you have two heavy warps for mucho damage on barriers and armor, followed by Mordin who can do more damage on armor and mess up organics. For the extra power I added Jacob's barrier; it's useful to have it up before a firefight or fire it up when you are about to die. Also it seems to me that the cyro heavy weapon is one of the best in the game. Try using that.

But I REALLY....REAAALLLY don't want to do the platform part again...the only way I even got through it was a ton of luck and the Cain.

There is a Heavy Ammo-refill in that Area (with the Praetorian).

I used Avalance on the Husks/Collectors and then finished them off while Miranda and Garrus handled the Praetorian.

Praetorian keeps following you so you can keep running while Miranda / Garrus use abilities on it.

Run a bit, take cover, wait for shields/recharge, blast a bit rinse repeat. Ring around the rosy.
During that time, use Garrus Concuss/Overload and Mirandas Overload/Warp

The platform was the easiest part of the entire thing. Just sitback with Mordin and Miranda the entire time. Lob out singularities for crowd control and massive damage combinations with heavy warp.

Yeah, the platform fight is terribly hard, indeed. As for the praetorian, your only hope is to stay the hell away from it. Its lasers aren't that much of a threat, but if it lands near you, you are pretty much guaranteed to die.

Ahhh I beat it! Thank you all so much! And pantsless was right, that sit back with Mordin and Miranda....I restarted the mission (but kept my save at the praetorian part) and they kept getting ripped to shreds by that thing on the flying platform. But I still beat it thanks to Venkman anyway, that singularity on the husks was invaluable, and then I put Grunt and Miranda on two opposite covers and they owned the collectors, and I played merry-go-round with the Paretorian, with them helping near the end. Almost died at one point....thank you all so much! Thread closed :P

Ok I had to work on this for hours. Here is what I did as a Adept.

I have Barrier up all the time during this fight.

I used Mordin and Grunt for this entire run, Mordin has Incinerate and Grunt has Concussion Blast. Equip all of them and yourself with the Geth Rifle and make sure you have the Collector Beam rifle. When entering the room bring out the Collector Beam rifle and shoot the husk about to come from the door, kill them off first. Take Mordin and Grunt and position them to the ramp to your right so the boss has there attention. After killing off the two husk about a minute or two the Collectors will come out from the furthest door, when this happens again use your Collector Beam rifle to take them out quick. While this is happening make sure Grunt and Mordin are following you and are not stationary behind something, they will die fast and hard once the Boss uses his special abilitiy that not only does AoE if you're close enough but also recharges his shields.

By this time you should be covering behind the metal column and Mordin and Grunt should ether be retreating to the small metal wall infront of the two sided ramped platform or behind the wall for the furthest ramp. About this time, at least for me the second wave of husk will start to come in. Again use the Collector Beam rifle to take care of them, after the second wave of husk, you shouldn't have anymore adds to bother you with this fight.

Once the adds are done with position Mordin and Grunt near the closes door where the first wave of husk came from, this way they won't be close to the Boss in order to die from the "one hit K.Oed - Recharge WTF!? Abiltiy" While doing this you should be leading the boss to the flesh covered column, the column is to the right corner when you first come in. At this time and always for this fight you should be using Unstable Warp, it can cut corners and protect you from his "IMMA FIRN MAH LZRS!!!" attack. When he's about to cut the corner pop Barrier and RUN to the first ramp/wall and duck and cover, at this point repeat the same run around until the boss is dead.

Things to make sure you are doing at all times durning this fight.

-Spam your teammates special abilties, for me Mordins Incerate and Grunts "Concussion Blast"
-Always have Barrier when you're in open view for the boss
-Always use "Unstable Warp" when you know you are safe and behind something.

I hope this helps, I'm sure there are better ways in doing this fight but for me this was the easiest way.

Wait a sec, are enemies more numerous during missions on Insanity?! Because on Veteran that was a joke. I think only two husks ran out.

Shockwave eats Husks for dinner.

The Cain is not for shooting at random stuff. The Cain is for beating the tar out of really big things like the Thresher Maw and the T-800.
