My Error (you can skip this part)
My error specificaly relates to disc 2, it was working fine today for 2 hours, but upon switching of my console I was told to clean the disc.
I have cleared my cache and cleaned the disc, it has only been removed from it's case and placed into the console once, the console is 1 year old.
Mass Effect 2, disc 2 is the only game that will not play for me.
My disks are EU, bought in the UK

note: I tried to install disc 2, and was given an error message at 33%.

Reason for reposting a known issue (you can skip this part)
The reason I am reposting is that I have read countless threads both here and on gamefaq's detailing errors with disc 2 specifically, either it doesn't work when they attempt to switch discs when prompted, or it doesn't work later, on.

(important part)
I would like to know what Bioware would like us to do about discs which are unreadable, it seems to be a growing and common issue for 360 users that one of both discs becomes unplayable, would you have us return the discs for refunds or replacements from the distributor we purchased them from, or will Bioware work in partnership with Microsoft to provide support?
I've read of someone using 2 xbox360's and 3 copys of the game, and finding all of the disc 2's were unplayable.
Is this something Bioware can fix?

How do I remove a partially installed gamefile from the HDD?

Is that maybe the issue?

I think it deletes the partially installed data when it fails (although check the hdd memory in the system settings to be sure).

And disc 2 didn't work for me either and some others on this forum (disc unreadable). I suggest you return it to point of sale (retailer) and exchange it for a new copy (ASAP). It's possible some of us received bad discs in some boxes. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I'll return it, should take a little longer since it was ordered online ( play.com ) . Will this mean I'll end up with 2 DLC codes for Cerberus?

Gamestop handed me a new copy. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm crossing my fingers that it will be in good working condition. That's unfortunate that you ordered it online and have this problem as returns/exchanges are not as easy. You could wait and see if EA does a disc exchange, but right now it appears as though only a minority are posting about the issue. So it seems unlikely at this point. FYI. Before you return...I would try and make sure you can install other games so you can rule out the console as being the problem (I did this with Forza 3. Worked fine.).

I have 2 codes now for Cerberus since exchanging (one applied to my account). Gamestop wasn't concerned that I had used it already (They probably ship bad copies back to EA or something).

*Update*

Loaded up a brand new fresh copy of the game from Gamestop (no dirt / no scratches / no downloads yet).  Disc 1 won't install at all now (dirty disc message).  But, for some reason disc 2 seems to install fine (didn't even complain once).  Not sure what to do now...  Just want to play.  :(

Great, came looking for hope, but I see I'm in trouble. My disc 2 froze my system today (after 50hrs of gameplay). Now it won't read the disc at all. I hope Walmart will take it for an exchange, if not, 50hrs down the drain, and I won't be able to even finish the game. What a kick in the sack!!

While I am aware that your post is mostly directed toward Bioware, who seem oblivious to the problem, I feel inclined to point you toward my detailed thread on the topic:
http://social.biowar.../index/1217971/

PS: Two 360's and three copies is nothing...

you know you could always try this. worked for me...
I backed up my saves and wiped all my DLCs and redownloaded and problem was solved, therefore one of my DLC corrupting caused the game to tell me my disc was crap, though it was in pristine condition

I know this thread is way dead, but I just want to second sammi teh kitteh's response. I tried everything: cleaned both discs, replaced them, cleared my system cache and as a last resort went to my local GameStop for help. They threw the disc in their display system and it worked just fine. I went home and reseated my hard drive and there was no change, but when I deleted my ME2 DLC from the drive both discs loaded up with no issue whatsoever. Then I just went back to the live site and re-downloaded my DLC and everything is peachy now.
