Some thoughts about ME2 that should be expanded on in ME3

I was thinking about how the game sometimes felt like the subplot arcs seemed so short. I was thinking that it would have had more replay value if we had the ability to do additional missions for the team's members or their affiliated groups.

Like the Quarians and the Geth. Like Miranda and the Illusive Man and Cerberus. Like Thane Krios and the Hanar. Like Grunt, the Krogan, and Mordin Solus and the Salarians (about the Genophage).

I can see how these things can be easily expanded on into new storyline arcs and missions. Here's an example. Let's say the Krogan suddenly experience a natural disaster on their planet that severely cripples their population numbers. You already have Mordin Solus in the team, and you either A) let Mordin kill his assistant, but recovered the research data; B) You prevent Mordin from killing his assistant, but recover the data and end the Genophage research.

What better way to expand on this than to ask Mordin Solus to personally assemble a crack team of Salarian scientists to help the Krogan recover from the disaster? This would be probably the ultimate Paragon action of all time. This is a possibility in ME3, but I don't see it as a major plot point because Wrex is already doing a great job helping the Krogan recover and "civilize" themselves.

Another example is the Tali-Legion relationship that you encountered at the end of Legion's loyalty quest. You could broker a peace deal between the non-heretic Geth and the Quarians and perhaps give them an opportunity to peacefully coexist. This would work best if you had destroyed the heretics' headquarters, preventing them from potentially "traumatizing" the non-heretic Geth. This is most likely going to be expanded on in Mass Effect 3 anyway, since it's an obvious plot point.

Thane Krios and the Hanar. Well, Thane's suffering from a Syndrome that will kill him in a year. Maybe there's a way to cure him and get him to show up in Mass Effect 3.

Hell, there's a lot of different ways you could expand on the game design and add multiple subplot arcs that would allow you to take a detour and further explore the universe in a more engrossing way... sort of like a "full game" within a full game, rather than it being a mere sidebar to the main story.

I just think it's something Bioware should think about, so we don't have these side quests feeling too short and seemingly condensed versions of what they could have been.
