'Tis a big disappointment..

I mean, I would have really really liked my ME2 wiht high-quality Dub instead of this crappy german.. well let's call it a 'try'.

I'm not in the mood for bad words, but serious.. couldn't you think about producing this DLC for us?
Or better, for everybody who wants a game that's more like a epic movie instead of a B-class-Actor Contest?

I would rather like to hear Sheen & Co. than having new costumes (for the same amout of points e.g.).

It's rather EA that's to blame.

But then again I would say that the majority of the customers in Germany want their games in German. Not to mention that problems posted about on a forum seem to be bigger than they actually are, which is why they won't bother to do anything about it.

..., but they could have told us earlier, that the English-dub-pack was never planned.

Well, they never announced a dub-pack.

But they hinted in that direction (respectively let others do the announcement), I think they even told diverse game-magazines that the dub-pack would come (why else should the game-magazines boost there ratings because of an announced dub-pack) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY didn't disclaim the rumours regarding the dub-pack in time.

That doesn't matter, really. For one thing, I want to know what I'm buying, and for another, and that's the even bigger issue here, I want to have access to the version I prefer, which is becoming harder and harder. The reason I ended up with the Singaporean version is that it was actually easier for my local store to get that one than the UK version. It's the same thing as with movies, the publishers invest a good amount of money into creating the dubs, so they want to sell them. I guess we have to consider ourselves lucky that not everything is completely region locked yet, and it's only a matter of time until that happens.

"good amount of money"?

The majority of the dubs I have 'experienced' were more of the "lowest bidder" type and therefore poorly executed. IMHO game distributors give a rat's ass about bad dubs, because they count on that the majority of their customers probably will never figure out what they are actually missing by not getting to hear the original audio.

I didn't say "adequate", y'know. ;)

I was actually thinking the same thing when I wrote this, if the amount of money invested is worth forcing the dubs on people, it's really kind of sad that the result they're getting still pretty much stinks. But that said, I wouldn't willingly play German dubs of games originally in English even if the dubs were done well. Or vice versa, for that matter. If it's in a language I can understand, I want the original.

I just want to know, why/how different magazines were able to add the english dub-pack positively to the rating of the game?

Where did they get the info from?

Any clue, EA????

Bioware did not say anything about a english dub pack. It was simply a moderator spouting nonsense and I guess BW already kicked him in the nuts for saying something like that.

I am from germany too and ffs ALL german dubs suck! Just import your games like I do...

So where she got the Info? There must be a source somewhere. And why should i import every Game? Not every German Dub sucks, the German ME Dub is actually not bad at all but i would like to play it in English.

You want to be on the safe side, buy imports. Unfortunately, a lot of publishers seem to be unwilling to take their customers' money and would rather offer a product they don't want, so we're stuck with buying imports. When it comes to the German speaking region, you've got the added reason that the German versions tend to be censored for violence. Just pray that they never introduce region locking. The day that happens, I'm buying a gaming PC and downloading everything illegally.

Well I sold my german ME2 because there is no engl. dub to download. ME1 I bought in England and ME2 I bought in Germany because I, like many others, thought that an english dub was coming. And if an english dub was coming why not support the local german market and stores? Well there isn´t, so I won´t anymore.

Its UK Imports from now on in. ONLY! I just hope the developers will at least switch on their thinking hats and make the DLC Multilingual. If not the whole DLC thing will turn sour because no one wants a language mishmash.

And the thing is I really love the bioware games but the german dubs (also for Dragon Age eg.) just suck. I don´t know where they found theyre actors but it must have been in the bargain bin.

Seriously, where did you find them? ALDI?

The worst of the lot, by far, is Dr.Chakwas, she always sounds like a teacher trying to performa a play infront of primary school kids.

Anyway that had to get out. Hearing the german ME2 one last time made me feel angry for hours. Its safely in the post now and the german version of any bioware game shall never ever find its way into my home again.

For me it's just no more EA-products anymore!
There were times when I thought: "Hey, no good games in the next few months. Why don't I buy Mirror's Edge for now and play it till the next REAL GREAT title?"
And when I was thinking about the whole ME2-english-dub-story I figured out: EA nearly doesn't have any "great" titles!!!
They throw out their sports games every year (which would also be fine if it only happened every 2 or 3 years), and besides that most of their games are just average! Lets take a look at the record:
Mentioned Mirror's Edge: Innovative on first sight, boring and repeatitive afterwards
Dante's Inferno: Also seems to have a creative kind of story and a motivating concept, but I played it for 3 hours and got tired of it.
Battlefield Bad Company: Also a product I bought because I ran out of games and wanted to play, 'cause when I want to play a excellent shooter I play Modern Warfare or Bioshock.
Need4Speed: Never liked the series very much (respectively there were other titles that were better).
Command&Conquer: Series executed by EA! Thanks for that again, EA!

For my part, I'll definitely leave the EA-train (which meanwhile additionally got the bad smell of forced-internet-connections to play a game, and selling 80%-games for the customer to complete it with expensive DLC respectively [as in the case of ME2 selling 100% of the game, but making only 80 re-sellable]).

I hope your ruin lies in the near future, EA, cause your financial tactics make me vomit!!!!

My Wife is chinese and would also like the subtitles from the asian version of Mass Effect 2 made available. Can't be that hard to patch in. I'd rather do that than order the asian version from Hong Kong and have to pay for the whole game again just for some Chinese Subtitles. I've never understood why they don't just release all the subtitles on the disc; its just text! I Wonder the same thing with DVD's \\ Blu-Ray. HD-DVD was good for this; always seemed to have every countires langauges (subtitles at least)
