So, I just finished my second playthrough. I went as a renegade Shep who only cared about getting to the collectors as quick as possible. I only did Miranda's loyalty mission and I purchased no ship upgrades. I got a few armor and biotic upgrades but no personal upgrades. I didn't recruit Tali and I sent Legion back to Cerberus for study. As soon as the reaper IFF was installed I ran to go get my crew back.....and it was messy.

First, the Normandy was hit by those flying beams o death and Jack was lost to an explosion.
Then the ship was hit again and Thane was exploded when the engine core detonated.
Garrus was lost when we took on the Collector ship with our normal weapons and armor as a beam flew through his chest.
Mordin was lost when he failed to get the doors closed in time.
Grunt was taken by the seeker swarms after Samara got us through them to the door.
Jacob died protecting the crew as he escorted them back to the Normandy.
Miranda died holding off the Collectors while Samara, Zaeed, and myself took on the Reaper larva.
After the battle I found both of them dead under rubble.
I ran back to the ship only to be caught by gunfire while being pulled up by Joker. I said some parting words, and let go to fall to my death.
In short, the mission was a complete bloodbath as advertised.

It's pretty cool how they let you go in horribly unprepared and get yourself butchered... this is probably the first game I've seen that lets you do that. Hell, it makes sense. You're going in with a terrible (well, not really, but compared to what it could be) ship, and an under-equipped crew that barely trusts you. Not going to be pretty.

Well my first runthrough I did mostly everything right, and only lost Miranda and Mordin. I figured it would be cool to see if the devs were really telling the truth about how it could be a bloodbath if you didn't prepare....well they weren't BSing.

Great game!

That's how it's supposed to be if you fight them unprepared! :D

Thanks for this test Atti!

Nothing. Devs have stated that you can't import your save if everyone dies.
Lets be honest, you have to try to get everyone killed. If you end up getting everyone killed without trying to, that's one of the biggest video game fails or all time.

Every time I start a playthrough with the intention of ending in a bloodbath, I change my mind after Horizon. Probably because the final fight on Horizon is such a ****, I figure if I go through that much effort in a game, I better make it count.
