Is Garrus's voice meant to be distorted in ME2?

I've been playing Mass Effect 2 and at the bit where you meet Garrus, his voice goes a bit wierd, slowing down a bit, when he's talking to you long distance. Is that a bug, or is it meant to be like that?

I found that, too. But mind you, I've found Garrus' voice to be maybe a bit buggy this time around. If you talk to him one on one, it's fine, but I find it goes odd in combat.

When he does combat sounds, it doesn't sound like him and I swear it's Jacob or someone else (even though it was Me, Mordin and Garrus)

Are either of you using sniper rifles? Because the sniper slowdown bonus also modulates voices.

Yea, I almost seems like they got someone else to do his combat sounds, and the original voice actor to do any face to face dialog. He just seems so out of character in combat.

I checked, and yes, it's not just Garrus - it may be most noticable with him, but it's happening in combat with all chars. And I'm not using the sniper rifle.

Well, Mordin, Miranda, and Jacob are fine. I haven't tried the others, but Garrus definitely sounds like it might be another character's voice files. It sounds nothing like him at all.
