Certification for Sony takes longer. However finishing the de-bugging on xbox, then moving on to start working on the PS3 version, to put it up for certification later was a Bioware decision.

Actually, earlier in this thread Victor stated that the two had been developed concurrently and submitted for certification at the same time for both systems

that is true, but victor originally said:
"Once we were able to resolve the issue for 360 and delivered the second title update to MS for final certification then work began in earnest on the short hop to moving this across to PS3 and directing the test focus there. The nature of the issue was such that it required the same programmers and made more sense for that particular ‘nut’ to be cracked on the 360 first to really understand how to fix it once and for all, so this was not something we could do in parallel for both platforms."

so, which is true then?

Sony is the worst when it comes releasing products on time. I am guessing is that they do not even care about its consumers.

Well I think that's generalizing a little. I'm sure they do care about their customers as they bring in the bucks after all. But still, I think in all fairness ALL of the formats should have been held until all were ready to go.

Good question.  Now that you mention it, I do recall him saying that.  There have been too many RtO threads to keep proper track of information <_<

For people who can not see the DLC:

Open the Task Manager after you have started the game and close the DAUpdater-process, it should restart immediately and you should see the RtO.

Pedpano, that page actually links to the wrong executable for the 1.02 Patch. Get the patch from http://social.biowar...page/da-patches instead.

rebma47, there is no automatic patching.  Go to the link I provided and download the executable that will patch your game.

Congratulations! You just successfully got me back from Star Trek Online :D at least... until I'm through with RtO ;)

Alright, EDIT:
It didn't feel like an hour, but it basically took me one to go through it.
All in all a nice DLC, but I would have loved to see a little more voicacting, for it was one of the things that seemed to be promted in front "w00h we get back to Ostagar, see what all the ppl have to say!"
Alright, I did take Loghain AND Wynne along, so they had some very nice bickering :D
I'm curious however, if there'd be more ore less dialoge when taking other companions along.
So it IS defenately replay-worthy, and I look forward to explore all companion-combinations for the maxed out bickering and dialoge ^^
But I still was somehow expecting.... more Dialoge and cutscenes. *dunno* *shrug*
But, I liked the DLC, nevertheless :)

All of you folks looking for the patch, simply go to the top of this forum and click "Games", then choose DA:O, then choose PATCHES, scroll to the bottom of the patch description and download it.

So when is the release date for the PS3 version? I'm getting tired of waiting.

Waited forever for this little dlc, hoping for the best and was sorely disappointed. Very little voice acting and mostly a drawn out monster mash. The finale was rather touching, but overall a bust. I am thinking from the amount of problems they had releasing it and the poor storyline that Bioware had the B-team program this overblown failure. Sadly, Warden's Keep was epic in comparison to Return to Ostagar. Really sad....

There must have been a real basic for all of their technical considerations and re-testing... having played it it struck me that someone had one of those "it sounded good at the time" ideas --i.e. let's just use the Ostagar area, and add a bit of snow over it... it'll save all of the work and we can bang out an extra DLC... and now in retrospect they are thinking it would have been better to start by undertaking to create a new area?

Anyway -for my two cents- it wasn't THAT bad -it played smoothly, very little in the way of cut scenes, other that the non-talking darkspawn guys cackling etc. That was in fact a flaw in the main campaign -the main enemy could not talk or interact -much of the dialogue and political intrigue relates to the civil dispute in Ferelden. Awakening should present us with much better dialogue and cut-scenes with respect to the baddies...

The next question is whether or not there will be DLC's for Awakening --if enough people are willing to pay the odd 3.50eur or 5.00eur, they there will be the OPTION of extras for Awakening. But, at the end of the day DLC's are inexpensive (issues of value and customer satisfaction notwithstanding) and if you try one (everyone got two for free) and don't like 'em, don't bother getting more! But I hope the option will be there for awakening --I actually think the DLC's are a nice feature.

Return to Ostagar seems to have bugged shale out for me. Whenever I talk to him it acts like hes still a statue in his old village and I dont have the activation word yet. When the dialogue is finished the game teleports the entire party to the edge of the map, usually outside the normal walking area borders and I cant escape. Its not that big of deal since Ive seen the majority of his dialogue during my first playthrough but its still annoying...

Cheddah, that likely isn't related directly to Return to Ostagar, but an overall problem with you DLC. In particular the Disappearing DLC glitch. If you hae Warden's Keep make sure its okay as well. See the DLC In-Game Errors FAQ for more information on the glitch and how to recover it.

Thanks that its out .. but still peeved that xbox got it way before PC got it. Should have made it fair for all and released on all systems same time. Plus this game can ONLY be played on the PC anyway!

This was exactly what I was talking about. Victor is ofuscating with his statement. He might not be doing anything malicious, but the result is a misunderstanding nonetheless. The two posts were hours away from each other, by the same person, I quoted on page 19 of this thread:

that's
just lazy talk... traditional gets old. it all depends on your
commitment to make it work. if bioware had been more committed, rto's
fix for the ps3 shouldn't have been a problem but they chose to fix the
ps3 version last. which, for me as a ps3 owner, is a no-no.

Actually, to clarify, the PS3 version is in certification with Sony right now. It was developed concurrently,
and was submitted for testing at the same time as Xbox 360. However,
Sony has a different process than Microsoft, and so their process takes
longer. This is not to point a finger and blame someone else, but to
make you aware of the fact that we do consider the PS3 right along with
other platforms. But that part of the release process is something that
we don't have control over.

This clarification just confused me. You wrote on the other thread:

Victor Wachter wrote...

As promised yesterday, I followed up with Fernando on the status of the PS3 release. Here is what he sent me:

The
issue we saw on 360, which was introduced with the title update, also
exists on the PS3 patch that was planned to go out with the Return to
Ostagar DLC for PS3 – it is a console agnostic issue. However, the
title update / patch itself (without the issue) is needed for both
platforms in order to fix some main game items, as well as enable
functionality for Return to Ostagar, and future functionality that
benefits upcoming DLC. This meant we were unable to simply go ahead and
release the PS3 version independent of pulling the 360 version, we now
needed to re-open the PS3 version as well before that went public.

Once
we were able to resolve the issue for 360 and delivered the second
title update to MS for final certification then work began in earnest
on the short hop to moving this across to PS3 and directing the test
focus there. The nature of the issue was such that it required the same
programmers and made more sense for that particular ‘nut’ to be cracked
on the 360 first to really understand how to fix it once and for all,
so this was not something we could do in parallel for both platforms.
Lastly,
Sony's certification time simply takes longer than Microsoft's. It is
also worth mentioning again that as we saw with the original RtO dates,
even once in Cert until we actually pass an issue can still be found
anytime either by ourselves or Sony/MS which would re-start the process
all over again. In practical terms, what that means is that until we
are virtually on the last days of certification it is not easy to
provide an estimated release date – and we’re not there yet.

What we can do is update you once we get there with Sony certification, as we did with the 360 updates.

It might be best to avoid this kind of misleading statement. Even if you developed simultaneously, you did not fix that bug simultaneously,
you left the ps3 for last. Such a decision might have adequate reasons
behind it, as it is stated in Fernando's quoted post, but you should
always make it clear as to what you are referring to.
