The game itself was/is entertaining and fullfilled my expectations (well...except graphically), so I can't fault Bioware for having difficulty releasing DLC. Especially when you consider the difficulty they've had creating that same DLC on systems they're more familiar with as a company - I think it speaks volumes to the trouble they had to overcome. The fact that it took them so long to release a working version on the PC and 360 - systems they know - has calmed my irritation at the difficulty in making the same content work on the PS3, a system they've just learned. Perhaps it's the fact that I work in software that's made this a bit easier for me to accept, I don't know, I do know that BioWare isn't trying to lie to paying customers or purposefully delaying content that, truthfully, is inconsequential to the story. I feel every PS3 owner should calm down a little and consider the requirements for making DLC - the development staff. I know I'd rather they work at getting the lenghty expansion running well rather than some one hour excursion.
That said, it is completely bogus that we don't have a thread of our own and are forced to hijack threads from other consoles/systems. Would it not be wise to simply make a single thread regarding the DLC for ALL consoles so as to limit the amount of derailment and agitation that may happen in the forum? Just a thought.

That they cannot give a release date doesn't bode well for future PS3 content, but even that for me is excusable. Its the utter silence on the issue that's infuriating. Something in the form of acknowledgement that PS3 users exist and that BioWare feels they deserve a response of any kind would be appreciated. Even if you cannot give us complete information BioWare, you could give us our own release thread out of respect.
Giving us nothing is giving us one thing and that is a belief that you have little value for us as customers. Perhaps I am wrong and disrepecting your PS3 clients will cost you nothing, but it seems unlikely and in my humble estimation it doesn't speak well of anyone representing BioWare to behave this way. From the makers of a game wrought with so many moral implications to the choices made it just seems oddly incongruent that the right course of action for them here is vague. Were I to choose to behave this way in the game it would be clear to me I was playing the role of a villian.

Bioware has confidentiality agreements in place with Sony and agreements to hold Sony in high-esteem publically. If the delay really is Sony's fault, for whatever reason, Bioware would not be allowed to inform us of that. These game manufacturers rarely blast the console companies. Bioware's only statement on the matter has been its in Sony's hands . . . therefore, that's probably all they really can say (they don't want to blast Sony and say they are unreasonably slow or are ignoring their own player base . . . which is what many here are calling for).
I actually played RTO on a buddy of mine's xbox . . . the loot was great, but I'm at the stage now where I'm not buying it for PS3 unless I get to keep the loot on the expansion . . . which, I understand we will not be allowed to do.

1) Sony is intentionally delaying certification.
2) Sony hasn't had the DLC for very long (how long I think BioWare could say without breaking any agreements).
3) The certification process is so much slower than anyone could ever imagine.
1) Seems unikely to me as it would badly damage it's new relationship with a developer who had been previously offering it's content ONLY to a competitor. This seems like something very much NOT in the best interest of Sony to do anything to continue to keep the advantage of the number of titles releasedeach year (though I know the number of titles for all consoles is likely to continue to decline) in Xboxes favor. Could Sony make such a stupid mistake? Certianly, but I believe they have learned the lessons of the past to some degree.
2) Okay, if this is the case BioWare could fess up to not getting a version to Sony that would pass certification, or having gotten versions to them that failed to pass certification a few times. It's a new platform for them, no one expects seemlessness; there will be bumps in the road. I don't think they'd be perceived in as bad a light as they are currently with silence. This seems like a good posibility to me, but again keeps me angry at BioWare for not wanting to say, "We are having more problems coding for PS3 than we anticipated."
3) Also seems posible to me and would have me angry at Sony instead of BioWare and also helps to explain why they don't have as many partnerships with developers as they should. Geider, cough twice if this is the case. However, inspite of the potential prowess of Sony's mighty sword of legal rending I suspect some company or defunct company would have whined about this publicly before now. The only complaints I have heard is that coding for it (the PS3) is different enough from other platforms to make things difficult to port etc, but that would bring us back to 2.

1hr for 5 bucks is not bad. 4 months of waiting for 1 hour on a game 'pushing dlc' is just headscratching.
And again, how come Gearbox managed to release info on their DLC when it was at sony? They even stated it was going to take a week longer to certify. I like Bioware products, but they don't operate under special rules. Mistakes were clearly made.

Joking aside, there are things BioWare can't say legally. If they say it's in Sony's hands then I'd trust them. We can not guess the engineering difficulty BioWare faced in fixing the DLC, nor can we guess the release schedule created by the staff at Sony. As I recall, everytime something is re-submitted, it goes to the bottom of the testing que and must wait its turn to be tested. If a problem is found, it's reported, fixed by the developer and re-submited to the bottom of the que. Depending on how much is already in the que, who's doing the testing (health, work ethic, etc.) and Sony's internal release schedules, seeing a delay of a month is not unreasonable. That doesn't mean BioWare or Sony can come out and say all that.
That said, the forum could be handled far better than it is. First rule of business that I learned: the customer is always right, even when they're wrong. If you have a large number of users requesting space similar to that alloted to other users, what harm is there in giving it to them? Ok, so you can't explain the delay with the DLC in a way that will appease the end user, at least throw them a bone and give them a shiny new thread to complain in. So no, I don't think you're over reacting exactly, xxSylphxx I just think the DLC issue will have to work itself out and if we want change int he forum, we should attempt to get it by asking not complaining. You can catch more bees with honey than with the net alone.
What's happening with the DLC is happening. Pouting, yelling, screaming, isn't going to make the process go any faster and will only serve to irritate you and remind you of how helpless you are in this situation. Instead, if you must complain, complain about something you have at least some hope of changing: the forum. Most people don't think like that though. Most folks are confined to the world they live in and the wants they have but fail to see the rest of the picture. Yes, the lack of communication is troubling but what exactly areyou expecting them to say beyond what they've already said? If it's in testing, it's in testing and won't be rushed just because you will it so. I just think everyone's efforts should be spent on improving this community instead of tearing down a company over a single piece of downloadable content (why is it DLC and not just DC?).

As to Angry ;-) I've not changed the group motto, it’s always allowed for a wide range of displeasure, which I think would/could include but not necesarily be limited to disappointment.
Yes I've pouted, yelled, screamed, shaken my fists, etc, but not under the delusion that it would speed things up, but in hopes that it would inspire a reaction, a response from BioWare. Beyond that I prefer action over inaction in response to any given situation for mysylph and obviously others. I've all but given up hope that BioWare will respect us with a little timely communication on their part. So, I am left with the decision of using my purchasing power to express my dissatisfaction or not. I pretty much ranted mysylph out when I got to point of quoting Shakespeare. And, I'm fresh out of any other ideas.
/edit: And, yes, I've asked for a shiny new RtO release thread of our own (PS3) for people to gripe, whine, querry, what have you in, also to no avail.

Why don't we all just forget about this vaporware called Ps3: Return to Ostagar? Let's just say "Bioware, you don't have to make Return to Ostagar anymore m'kay?" I think I know why its been delayed, Calain's armor is still at the cleaners and they're still trying to get all the smooshey wet nasty bits out...
They've lost some serious money on our version. I certainly will not be purchase it when, if ever, it is released.
Let us all just simply shut up and stare at the pretty pictures they post daily for "Awakenings" while thinking about all the dreamy DLC it will no doubt spawn...
Jeebus! I sound like a victim of domEAstic violence! Oh Dragon Age, I just can't quit you...

I totally agree. Even though I am compelled to look here every other day just in case I resigned to it probably not coming out after until Awakenings does, which I also think will have major delays seen as it's DLC for us PS3 users! I probably wont buy it until a while after, if at all as I shall be immersed in FFXIII by then....

J-all, as you may not have noticed some people still want RtO, including myself, I may be chasing false hope, but it is always good to hope
Me too! I may sound crazy, but I even prefer RTO over Awakening! That's probably because I loved Cailan and thus I want to give him a proper funeral.
