Hi all!

I'm trying to buy the Warden's Keep DLC, and thus I need to buy myself some points!  However, I get the message

'The payment method's billing address doesn't match your registration country. Please confirm your offer selection.'

whenever trying to set which card I'll like to use.  Is there no way I can change my registration country? I don't see how this would be a problem regardless... but I've moved to another country since I registered my EA/Bioware account (years ago!).

Does anyone have any advice?  Maybe I've missed the place I select my registration country... if so, a pointer towards that would be great!

That error message will come up anytime the EA account mismatches the billing method used.

go to profile.ea.com and sign in to change your account to the correct country for the billing method.

I'm in the same position, and understood what the problem is. The only thing that's not so good about this is the extreme limitation in language options from the EA master account.

China is my host country. I'm not Chinese and can't read Chinese. When I select China as my country of residence ONLY Simplified Chinese shows up as the language option. Why am I being forced into a language that I cannot read?

I did send a support ticket about this [Incident: 091104-003956], which was somewhat inflamed since this is but one of other frustrating problems I had with EA. They designed a system that does not recognize the existence of expats in the *real* world or of people outside their normal distribution channels.

regardless of what lang is offered on the master acct, chinese isnt supported where it matters (the game and this site and the points.bioware flow) right? You'd get defaulted to english anyway.

not sure what the problem is.

Hi, I am living in Hong Kong. When I was registering my account via dragonage, HK was not a choice in the drop-down, so being very politically correct, I ended up picking China instead.

Obviously all of my credit card/Paypal accounts are linked to Hong Kong and not China, and in billing these 2 are differentiated. so basically I am getting the regional mismatch error now when Its more a technicality and the fact that your two systems don't really match up its geographical allocations. is there any workaround for this?

I tried visiting profile.ea.com, but it does not recognize my existing account and is asking me to create a new one.

the account you use to sign into social.bioware.com is your EA account. This is the account that you would use to buy points on points.bioware.com

Are you saying that you cannot log into profile.ea.com with the account you use on this site? If so, you will need to open a ticket at help.dragonage.com

I've changed my EA account location to China. As a result, my account interface and their marketing is now rendered useless.  I can effectively get BioWare points now, but EA's failure to recognize certain realities irks me to a good extent.

Hi, a couple days have passed and the problem is still not fixed, and by this point I'm really starting to get quite irritated.

I've changed my ea account location to Hong kong, but when I try to purchase points, its still insistently telling me I'm China, which for all intents and purposes here basically just means I am not Hong Kong. As a result its refusing to recognize my HK credit cards and paypal account when I try to purchase points. The year is now 2009. Its been 12 years since HK and China have become one country and I have been denied recognition by a computer program because someone neglected to give it a bloody once a decade geography refresher course. I do not have a credit card or Paypal linked to another Chinese city because, in spite of the extensive online shopping I do, this is the first time I've ever had my money rejected over something like this.

To begin, why is the purchasing system so incredibly stubborn about matching registration country with credit card country? There have been a number of wonderful discoveries/inventions (i.e. airplanes, expatriate packages, summer vacations) over the past century designed so people wouldn't have live in one place their entire lives and have everything they own bound there.

I have raised a ticket for help and sent an email but gotten no responses.

Honestly I'm completely mystified why I have to work so hard to give you my money. Is there any way i can just buy a gift code instead to get around this or something?

Oh I didn't notice this before I made my own topic, but I want to throw in my two-cents here with leetangctl: This IP lock is ridiculous. I'm an expatriate 11/12 months of the year, and with laptops and airplanes, both my computer and I travel a LOT outside of where our CC is listed. We don't live in the ginormous United States, but seem to be constantly penalized for that apparent failing.

I want to give you my money. Please either make this easier or make your DLCs available from third-party merchants without these ridiculous restrictions. I know people in this country who have pirated your game and have all the DLCs without having given you a dime, and that I have less of a game than they do (while doggedly insisting on paying you good money for this product) frustrates me to no end.

I'm from Hong Kong, too.  I can't put it in a better way.

I shop on steam and amazon frequently, and there had been no such problems.  But with this point system, it just won't let me buy any points.  I'm very frustrated by this as well.

It ticks me off to start with when they list Hong Kong as a country ( IT ISN'T ) and then more when I tick the correct box ( China ), it doesn't recognize my credit card/billing address etc.

Why does the system have to be so complicated as opposed to other successful online shopping platforms out there?  I never had any problems before.

Sometimes I wish Dragon age were a worse game so I wouldn't want to purchase the DLC!

Yeah i've been having the same problems. I opened a help ticket and EA customer support told me "please ensure that you are filling out the same information as you have listed in your paypal account".

I don't think we're going to get a lot of help from them on this.

Same.  The EA customer support said pretty much the same thing.  I mean, I don't blame them, they probably don't understand what's wrong because maybe most of their customers have no problem with this. It's just the expats and people living outside Europe/USA...

I hope this gets fixed or addressed before any new DLC comes out...  Imagine if they made an epic DLC and all I could do is stare at it.  The frustration/anger/sadness/rage/hatred would be so intense, I'd probably qualify as a dark spawn or something tainted...

I still think they could just make it real easy and sell those DLC as an expansion on steam or something.  If it means a higher price, so be it!

I have a similar problem as those listed above but with Serbia and Yugoslavia. From the drop down Country menu I can only pick Yugoslavia, a country which does not exist for several years. I live in Serbia, which was a part of Yugoslavia, and all my cards are based here. When I choose Yugoslavia, I get invalid country message. Is there any way I can BUY some points?

Well, I *thought* I could purchase points but the inflexible, overbearing method from EA just recently gave me another good spank. Why all of this grief towards expats / people living in the *wrong* places?

Seriously, I have no such problems anywhere else but here! EA has a wholly retarded purchase system. I'm sorry to see BioWare being dragged into this stupid mess...

Hi all,

The same problem from Russia. I have bought the original English version of the game, because I wasn`t sure if our translators will do their job nice, but now when I try to download anything, I receive information that "sorry no payment methods for your country...bla-bla-bla". Sounds much like a discrimination or just a someone`s stupid idea...

Hi, friend showed me how to resolve my issue (at least for HK/China issue).

Basically, you are gonna want to go on to help.dragonage.com and login. What you want is to be able to access the "My Account" page, and change that country to whatever country your CC/PP is linked to. catch is, the "My Account" button is gonna mysteriously take you to a blank page with no explanation unless you click and complete the "Register My Games" button first... register your dragonage via that site, then come back and click "My Account". I already had an EA account before doing this under the same email, but for whatever reason that seemed to be different from my DA acct, so even though my accounts.ea.com page was set to Hong Kong, dragonage kept insisting I was China.

Once you register, you should be able to get an EA account page (again, mysteriously different from any EA account you setup elsewhere even on the same e-mail addres), where you can switch your Acct to Hong Kong/wherever (the list of options on this page is for whatever reason much more comprehensive than what you got when registering via dragonage).

Worked for me, hope it works for you. don't wait for EA support they will never reply you. I e-mailed them quite a few times and havent received anything from them more than 2weeks later

I'm having the same problem (Canadian living in Italy, I don't speak the language yet so I registered in Canada). I'll try out your solution, thanks.

I suppose EA wants to control people's locations so they can charge more to people in different parts of the world who have more valuable currencies. I suppose that's fair, since they have the added cost of shipping, import fees, packaging and spoilage associated with overseas freight.

Thanks, this worked for me. And of course as soon as I changed countries, the price jumped from 7 usd to 6.51 euros, must be the shipping costs...

I'm from Serbia as well. I sent two emails asking that this be fixed, no reply as of yet.

Just out of curiosity, what did you put as your country in your account? The country list in the account manager doesn't even have Yugoslavia.

This is exceedingly frustrating for me also I've recently moved home to Ireland after living 5 years in the UK. I want to spend money on myriad Mass Effect and Dragon Age DLC's using my UK PayPal and current account but I'm being frustrated by these arbitrary blocks being set up by EA. I'm still drawing a wage into my UK bank account and so I don't have bank details here in Ireland. If this billing and IP address mismatch block is motivated by a desire to mitigate fraud- other online entities such as Amazon and PlayStation Network have processed transactions without fuss Amazon in particular would surely be a more attractive target for fraud and ID theft rather than some relatively inexpensive non transferable BioWare points.

My bigger frustration stems from the fact that I've had no response to two of my mails to the customer service department the first of which was sent 6 weeks ago.

In conclusion I am desperately trying to spend money with your company I live in the EU free trade area so there really shouldn't be a dispute as to the authenticity of my accounts, if any mod who reads this can help or indeed point me in the direction of a department who can- I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks
