Yeah it was short, but like others said in this thread it's more for the story and a sense of finality for parts of it. The only thing I think they should have added was finding Duncan's body too. In an earlier part in the game in a conversation with Allaistar he says he would like to have a funeral for duncan, I think they should have tossed that in there too, but oh well.

Well, I'm still holding out hope that Duncan is alive, but that's unlikely. We didn't actually see him die and there's no body, so I'm going with "alive and can be rescued" until BioWare gives me a reason to think otherwise. ;-)

Duncan is alive. Darkspawn have a way of converting humans into darkspawn. He will be the Architect's right hand man

Anything is possible right?

Beware of the internet cheapos. The expansion is great, very emotional, and definitely worth the meager 5 bucks it costs.

You won't even get a full meal at mcdolands for the same price. Let's get real please.

Actually where I live...you can..It is a dollar for a small coke, a dollar for a double cheeseburger, a dollar for a small fry, and I could even get a dollar dessert..with tax it is about 4.25..but that is beyond the point. I believe RTO was worth the 5 bucks, I really liked it.

Lol

Dahelia, I am assuming that Abriael is a guy. That food wouldn't even feed half a guy, to be fair.

Small coke and small fries? Pfft!

And being that it's McDonald's you'll just be hungry in an hour anyway.

Anyway, RtO was good. Don't listen to this guy. Five dollars good at least, sheesh.

Yup I think I got my money's worth actually ..took my time ran around picked up everything I could, killed everything.   Two hours and 15 minutes worth.  I'm sure as time goes by I'll be taking less time, but first time out...was good. :)

Well, I rather liked it. Like KNIGHT above said, I think it adds to the overall game story. It gives you a real sense of ending for what happened. Also, I think it's rather appropriate to have Alistair wear the king's armor.

It kind of gives your character closure...as you weren't able to be there to fight beside the King and Duncan, I like that Bioware did this..no loose threads.  Although, I am still wondering about Duncan.    In that respect there is still.....ONE LOOSE HANGING THREAD ..Bioware  ^^  hehe.

True...men eat a lot but really, I don't usually buy the soda. I eat at home mostly when I get McDonalds... I can get 15 cheeseburgers and 5 fries for about 20 bucks...and I have leftovers for about a week.

Just got it - suspect I am almost finished with it and I think it's great! Ties into the story line nicely of course so no doubt I'll play through it with every character I run through the game - all for $5 - less than lunch at McRoadkill - I'll take more DLC like this every time it's offered!

$5 is not cheap.

Lets say this DLC has 10000 downloads. 5x10000 = 50000$.

So you just payed 50k $ for...nothing?

The entire community paid that much. One person does not pay that much.

Besides, you have to either weigh in whether you wish to support Bioware or have Bioware sink.

The solution is simple: Don't buy the products you don't support. I for one, am not buying Mass Effect 2 and that's how I make my stand.

Actually I just paid $5 for an addition to my game that I realy enjoyed and expect to continue to enjoy with each character I play through it with (I have about a dozen in line at the moment).

Now as to the $50K that 10,000 downloads produces:

How much do you suppose the partys involved here have invested in computer equipment to allow these downloads to take place and to create the game and DLC in the first place?

Have you looked at the list of credits? What do you suppose the cost of paying each of those folks including any benefit packages they might have would be for the time they spent on this?

How about rent or mortages, maintenence, furniture, lights, heat, etc etc?

How much do you think it costs them to operate this social site where they have to listen to folks like you tell them all their work for this project is worth zero dollars?

I'll tell you whats cheap - people with an attitude like yours.....Image IPB

Well I have already done 9 runthroughs..deleted them due to some sort of bug with my files and the upload system.  So I might go through another 9 times just for the hell of it.   9 times that one 5 buck dlc...think replay value comes into that..for me at least. :)

I enjoyed the dlc by the way...I'm glad they allowed us closure with Cailan's death, and the massacre at Ostagar.   There's one item left that will leave me thinking that maybe I know whats going to happen (well a small part anyways) in Awakening.   Just because there was something that wasn't there in RTO, that I was expecting to see. :)

Here we go again.

The whinging cheap skates "It's Not Worth $5"

"The gear aint worth it."

Then "The cost per length" saga.

It is simple,,, Buy It or Dont. There are so many threads made by scrooges,, most of us buy it/will buy it because it adds to the STORY, which is what DA:O is,,, Yes,, thats right,, a STORY, and $5 (£3.15p)(E 3.89)(Prices at time of writing) is loose change. And it is replayable,, over and over, character after character.

If you want free stuff,, theres plenty of FPS's around that can keep you and your pocket money happy.

^^ This pretty much.....just vote with your wallet.

I just downloaded RTO and am looking forward to add another hour of great story to DAO for each of my characters.
I pay about the same for my lunch each day Image IPB so what are we talking about...

It's all relative.  The actual amount itself is insignificant, it's the value that's exchanged that differs.  Value is subjective, what's worth $5 to you may not be worth $5 to another.  Also remember the OP is talking using MS points.  There are some pretty good full arcade games or DLC for other games for 400MS points.

Personally, I think the wait time more than anything really decreased the RtO's value.  If they had released it on time, i wouldn't have felt as unsatisfied by the lack of content.  That being said, at least it's not $2 horse armor.

If you want free stuff,, theres plenty of FPS's around that can keep you and your pocket money happy.

What the hell does that even mean??

For those who are criticising those whinging about the price/content, you should stop whinging yourselves. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. My opinion is that using the toolset something similar to this could be made in the time it takes to download the DLC. Minus of course the new map/textures/voice overs.

Using tab and a level 21 character this DLC was finished in less time than the download/extract/install took. I was pretty disappointed in all honesty. Although I do understand the price was low.

I guess I should not have expected much more - but I could not help but hope it would be a funky 3-4 hour dungeon romp in the tower of ishal, instead of one little trek through a tunnel.

In their place I would have simply re-used the Tower of Ishal from before and shoved some new items to make it look like it should after a Darkspawn invasion. Would have been faster, cheaper and better.

All in all, I am not bothered, considering I would normally spend this much on petrol getting to a store to buy a game let alone pay for the actual game. So, not saying that if I had known what I do that I would not have bought the DLC, just that I would have made this specific DLC longer.

Nice little add on which ties up the Ostagar story and that's about it, oh some armour for alistar and some new weapons.....what more was anyone expecting?

edited: I just realised this is in the 'no spoliers' discussion section, so I deleted  spoilerish bits.

The DLC is worth here as much as a Marlboro cigarretes pack. So its cheap, lasts longer cause it can be replayed and doesnt kill you. Worth the price imo, and i hope they release more DLC, maybe longer ones.

For $5 it is pretty decent. As Bodhan would probably say, this is what I've heard on the road anyway, take it for what it is.

well the rto dlc is certainly not big, but still easily worth 5 bucks, I mean cmon I drank a draft beer for 5 bucks which was a total ripoff... what did I get out of that, not a sodding thing but it was still worth it at the time :)

I used level 12ish characters..its meant to take place after Lothering ...uh does its thing on the map.   So yeah running through with a bunch of level 20s doesn't surprise me that it took no time at all for you.

It took me 2 hours and 15 minutes.  I timed it.  Just because there were folks saying prior to release that it was 30 minutes and "not worth 5 bucks".

All depends on the player, and what level your team is.

The 3rd chara doesn't have to be silent, it seems. You just have to bring along charas who actually have an emotional stake in Ostagar.

Even Dog has a line.

Personally, I'm just upset at what COULD have been. The concept behind this DLC was great and could have really been something awesome, but the DLC it's self felt short and rushed.

I don't regret getting it though as it's OK and does offer needed resolution, but at the same time I wouldn't recommended it.
