Mordin. I didn't pick him for any of the specialist things for the last mission. It was all fine and dandy until I was about to get back on the Normandy and all of a sudden I see him on the ground.

Can anyone explain this to me?
Or is it just a stroke of bad luck?

(I did his loyalty mission, btw)

It's strange, but it seems that if you don't take Mordin with you to the last fight he'll always die. Sort of makes sense, he's not really a straight up fighter, he wouldn't fare well in the situation you left him in.

Hmm ya know I had the same feeling to when Legion fell over during a cuts scene seemingly dead you come to find out everyone lived had me worried there for a bit. Was he still dead after all the cuts scene ?

I didn't take Mordin and he was fine.

Weird, I didn't use Mordin for anything and he still stayed alive.

Huh odd did you get most the upgrade I hear while it doesn't factor in during most of the event they do on the final one. I myself got all but like 1 upgrade on each gun =/.

Alright, I guess that was wrong. I remember looking at a thread on GameFAQs and everyone who didn't use him in the last fight had him die, so I assumed that he has to be there to live. Nevermind, not sure what must have caused it then.

Wrong. I never took him with me personally during any part of the final mission, and he lived threw it all.
I think that stage is actually randomized a lot of the time.

If you randomly lose one person because you missed an upgrade somewhere... I'm gonna rage.

I need to figure out who to send with the crew. I left them to fend for themselves, thinking OH NOES the person I send with them will die! And then realizing Durrrrrrrrr they can fight, the crew can't. So yea, it was my dumb moment.

I already said that I was mistaken about that...

Same here. Everyone survives except Mordin, who's just all of the sudden dead at the last minute!

I did his loyalty mission and got him his Omni-Tool upgrade. Does it matter if he kills his associate during his loyalty mission? Because that Paragon part where you save him was so fast, I actually missed it.

So? I overlooked that post. It doesn't make my post any less relevant. :P I should have read the whole page first, though.

It was just the redundancy. Not a big deal.

Same thing happened to me only with Zaeed... not like it was a big loss, though I would have enjoyed getting the achievement for getting everyone out alive.

Did you arrive in time to save all of the Normandy crew? I remember someone mentioning if you don't save the entire crew Mordin will die. I'm going to have to confirm this as I had him live as well as the entire crew. Next playthrough i'll see what happens if I don't save the crew.

I didn't bring him with me to the final battle and he lived - had his upgrades and also saved the whole crew.

You're getting everyone to survive except for the doctor? Dang, I guess there's a lot more factors into the suicide mission than I imagined. I had 3 squad mates die on me (Grunt, Garrus, and Thane), Mordin survived though. He was in my squad during the second set of tunnels, but not the first. I upgraded his equipment and completed his loyalty mission.

Also, I was playing as renegade-paragon hybrid (The mission comes first, but if I can save people along the way I will) and after freeing the Normandy crew, I left the crew to try to get to the Normandy on their own.

If you're talking about saving Dr. Chakwas, Kelly, etc., then yes, I did do that.

I'm about to play through the last part again to see if it's randomized or something to that sort.
I really wanted him to live. D:

Same thing but Jack here. I'm completely unsure how she died, she was my biotic specialist btw.

Never bought upgrades, never used him for anything, and he still lived.

Thane died. Had him as the leader of the second squad the second part. (where you go with the biotic shield) The entire time I'm staring at Miranda cause I didn't have the points and had to choose between her and Jack, and screw Miranda, I preferred Jack. So i kept expecting her to do something, you know, un-loyal. Then bam Thane falls against the wall as they're making it through the door, and i watched him die.

I swear I almost cried. and throughout the entire thing, I was cursing myself, knowing Thane wasn't a good choice to lead a team. Visiting where he used to be on the ship afterwards hurt the most...seeing that cup there.

Oh, and I swear to god as the crew was being abducted, I thought it was all my fault, something I had done wrong.

You need to have given each character their personal upgrade, such as Mordin's omni-tool and have upgraded them enough. you do not need all upgrades but he survived just fine with everything but the final omni-tool squad boost. try taking him with you, also a party member can be eaten during the swarm part if you do not use Samara or Jack.
