Don't say I didn't warn you.
So has anyone else done the Samara quest line and opted to side with Morinth instead?
I decided to give it a try for my second playthrough just to see what it would be like. I gotta say, I'm impressed with this character. This was no throw away NPC they added for some side quest, she is one fascinating person when you get to know her. Sure you have to pretty much be playing one seriously evil bastard to have her on your team, but it's worth it. It's so cool seeing the way she mirrors Samara in may ways, like two sides of the same coin. Only where Samara can be seen as the ultimate Paragon, Morinth is the clearly the ultimate Renegade.
And it's fitting too, this is a woman who loves to kill with sex, litterally. And she's clearly very interested in your Shepard. Sure that's reason enough for most people to run away, but I can't help and find this character fascinating. We're talking Moth to a Flame here. After all you may die if you sleep with her, but only because you overload on ecstasy. ( the emotion, not the drug, though some may argue the point
Despite that you still get a peak into her soft side; she has this deep sense of loss at never being able to truly love another person for more then one night. In fact one of the things she says after you recruit her made me think she was purposefully trying to not force Shepard to sleep with her, unlike her previous victims, not just because it was more important to finish the mission first, but because she likes Shepard enough that she doesn't want to kill you. Perhaps one of the first times in centuries she's forced herself to abstain for a better cause.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but there is no doubt this is an awesome character any way you look at it. I'd love to see her as a romance option, even if it's one of the potential suicide endings for Shepard, it would be totally worth it!
