I just started a new playthrough, so haven't been there yet, I have a question though.  Hs anyone tried RTO with Loghain in the party?  I'm wondering if I should hold off on going there untill I get him.

Loghain/wynn dialogues is IMO better than alistair/Wynn's conversations

so if your getting loghain i would wait

Just finshed it now, fun - if alittle on the short side (Granted i didnt expect a lvl20 warrior to have any problems here).

Still no complaints really, it was cheap, it will be played through multiple times for current/future characters. Zevran's disapproval at end was abit uncalled for I thought. Liked the Warden's keep style flashbacks.

Never had access to Loghain so that wasnt an option, nor am I saving him this game perhaps my first character (complete with loghain) will run thru tho.

Yep. Won't be taking him there with my next character.

I thought it was amazing honestly. It was heartwrenching when I saw Cailan, and after that my blood just boiled. As SinYang said, I didn't have any trouble squashing everything as a level 20 warrior. The only two real issues I had with it was Morrigan's -3 disapproval at the end (I wanted to throw her off the bridge when that happened) and Cailan's arms and armor were all kinds of screwy with their levels. Maric's blade was T5 red steel and 2 of the armor pieces were silverite, but I used the Warden's Keep merchant to work around it.

I don't know if anyone else had that issue, but if you have Warden's keep, you can go to the blacksmith, sell any low tier Cailan gear to him, save on a new save slot, exit, then load that save. If you're the appropriate level, it should all be T7 Dragonbone. At that point you can just buy it and save over that game.

Again, I felt this DLC was simply amazing. Looking forward to taking my next character through it soon.

Just got the achievement, but poor Cailan is still hanging there and Loghain is still telling me that I need to clear the bloody darkspawn first. Wonder if I missed something. Thoughts?

Oh...and if you're playing with a nude mod, I might take it off. I was so mentally unprepared for bloody, ass-nekkid Cailan.

you dont have to save and reload your game to get him to upgrade your items, you also dont need to be a certain level either

all you need to do is sell the gear to him leave the store menu, talk to him again and it will be upgraded to a random level

you can do this with the warden commander armor as well

Ah, thanks for that then. When I read about the process it said you had to save and exit and all that. My bad Image IPB

My only complaint is that it would have been nice if some one on one dialogue opened up for Alistair and Wynne...I just can't imagine that they and the PC wouldn't want to talk about it after we were done.

THIS.  A dialog tree back at camp would have been nice.  Alistair would want to have to angst about it, and Wynne coudln't NOT talk about it, I'd think... but there I go thinking again. :innocent:

I thought it was Alright, I played it from one of my already completed the entire mission guys and he wiped the floor with all the darkspawn. He ended up getting a Tier 7 dagger from Duncan, He was a rogue. It really tied up the ending that you got to see the kings body

It wasn't anything mind blowing expansion worthy or nothing it could have been would have been equal to the hype since it's delay caused a massive anger and venting on the fourms. No matter what it ended up being, it couldn't have lived up to the hype

Makes me wonder about darkspawn, and how they managed to build a tunnel and no one noticed. The tunnel if you notice was intatct and nearly right under where the Grey Warden's ritual was, I wonder why Duncan or Allister couldn't sense them

Logiclally thinkng, you would notice a large tunnel leading up to the very tower which had to light the becon. Very odd, almost like it was pre planned. I wished for more digolge choices, though ended up with a few. Can't complain for the price for it

I was a little disappointed that almost all conversation was companion banter, I would've liked to be part of more of the conversation.

It did give me a good sense of closure though.

But all in all I think WK was better, it had more conversations that you were a part of and more story.

The tunnel was an issue, now that you mention it. The impression you get is that the tunnel was dug from at least a short distance away, but instead it comes out directly at the base of the fortress - somewhere which should have been under friendly control when the battle started.

Now, I can see the convenience factor for having the tunnel coming out where it does, but it might be worthwhile having a collapsed tunnel on the way which is explained to have been the original tunnel. Or Bioware could have been really sneaky and had a non-collapsed tunnel...leading into the Deep Roads.

Just finished RtO. Guess Duncan is still alive or has been taken by the Darkspawn. Would have been nice to get his armor.

Good DLC though. Enjoyed the dialogue between Wynne and Alistair.

I liked it. I just wish there would of been some more dialogue, there really wasnt much considering it was one of the big events in the game.

It was good. Enjoyed the extra story, the battles were well designed (choke points, overwhelming numbers, varying mobs), the new equipment is very cool, and I had a lot more of an emotional response to the events than I thought I would. I particularly enjoyed killing that damn Ogre and basically getting some revenge, nice of that Necromancer to give me that chance. All in all, five bucks well spent.

If you can help it I'd highly recommend going on a non-maxed out character as a lot of the battles are pretty fun for a mid-level character and I'm glad I didn't ruin that for myself by just steam rolling everything.

I haven't downloaded it yet but everyone keeps talking about how easy it is for there 20th level characters, I was under the impression it was to be played right after lothering which would make you about 7th level or so and that would make it play much differently. So I have a battery of characters still in lothering or Ostagar and those are the ones I will use to play it through. When I eventually can download it.

I thought Warden Keep was a lot better storywise than RTO. Grey Warden in politics, thats what Feralden needs.

I wasn't terribly surprised at Morrigan's -3 (because Morrigan hates everything and everyone), but I was with Zevran's disapproval. A few rolls in tent got him back up to 100% quickly, but I wish there had been some dialogue to shed light on why the pyre ticked him off.

I was a littles dissappointed that a warden didn't survive would have at least opened up the possibilty of surviving with Alistair without submitting him to a bloodmagic ritual.

The letter from the Arl was shocking and makes me question my previous choice to have Alistair & her marry, what are the odds of her producing the heir?

Over all I did enjot it and I concur with a previous statement re: renewed desire to reap havoc on the darkspawn and Loghain.

I loved this DLC. The loot is great & so is the plot. I really enjoyed all the banter between Wynne & Loghain...I just loved their perspectives over all others on the situation with Cailan.

This post is all about Zevran in RtO, skip if you like, and also if you don't want spoilers (on Xbox 360 anyway).

I've played it twice now, JUST finished it again, ironically (immediately post-Landsmeet, as I like to do it). I managed to DL it on the Xbox when it was very temporarily available. This time I took Zevran with the party, which also consisted of Alistair and Wynne. Maybe this isn't a problem on the PC version but... Zevran didn't say a word, the whole way through. Which I was okay with, until the ending. After taking down Cailan and burning him, I got a "Zevran disapproves -3". I could understand that, if he'd SAID anything. Zevran has always been very forthright about his opinion in every other quest. If he had a problem with this one, why not say why? I expect more of him than that, I guess. I feel I am always ready for Zevran's positive or negative reactions in any other part of the story, he makes his feelings very clear. So why have a problem with this one? Or at least, why have a problem without voicing it?

I'm just really glad I saved that last medium gold bar so I could get him back to 100% before playing the end of the game.

Zevran did comment on the sexiness of Meric's sword on my 360 playthrough, at least.

I just downloaded and finished RtO on Sereda (level 19 dwarf warrior, 2H), and I'm... disappointed. Well, maybe underwhelmed is a better phrase. Cailan's Shield was terrible when compared to Duncan's Shield (T6 Duncan vs T7 Cailan), Maric's Blade is mediocre (probably better when I upgrade it), but Cailan's armor seemed alright. Will upgrade that too, however. Also found some gloves with "Rapid Aim" on them, which is odd because most archers use bows with "Rapid Aim" on them.

I just found the whole experience underwhelming. The Ogre at the end was "Orange", yet I took him down with ease (and my Alastair/Zevran were not well geared, and my Warden set could do with the WK upgrade). Duncan's weapons were really nice, and I'm going to get them enchanted when I can.

I was annoyed by the number of locked chests, however. I don't have Leliana available (I know, stupid mistake) and Zevran isn't able to lockpick (no points in it), so I'm out of quite a bit of stuff. I'll probably find it better on my Human Noble (almost full lockpicking on Leliana, if not full) and my Rogue. Didn't see a single bit of mage gear, either. I bet most mages are fuming (I seem to remember one of the swords being heralded as the best AW sword, and I must confess I didn't look too hard at the ones I found).

And what in Fereldan was with the Zevran disapproval at the end? As thenyxie said, Zevran kept his mouth shut for the whole DLC, but he still gets a disapproval? 'twas only minor (-3), but it was still unexplained and probably an annoyance for those not at the end of the game.

If you like ratings, RtO is probably at a 6/10 or a 7/10. I just don't feel like it made much of an impact, and a some of the gearing didn't make sense.

I really can't wait to do my second play through to take some new party members. All the conversations were really interesting, great loot, awesome stats on all the loot, & I really enjoyed the layout of the DLC. All the fights were satisfying but I can agree with most people on here the Ogre was rather easy but it was just one ogre vs 4 well trained people.

I agree it's 6/10, not overwhelming but better than the average chantry board sidequest.
