So I've been reading comments on various forums where people have said that if you romanced Liara in ME1, you get an awkward kiss when first meeting her.

Is this the case for femshep? I merely got an awkward hug, and now I'm wondering if I missed the romance in the savegame I imported.

Femshep gets the kiss too. If you just got a hug something happened. Either your LI didn't import correctly or you may be too renegade for her now (I heard she doesn't like renegade Shepards now or something). Check the picture frame on the Normandy to see if her picture is still there.

Possibly, but it doesn't make a bloody lot of sense as Liara basically goes dark side while you're gone.

The normal Liara is still there. The whole cold/ruthless personality is just an act for the most part. You get a one shot chance to ask her about what happened and the normal Liara shines through.

Read the "Liara ME2 Romance" topic or the "ME1 Character Run-Ins Disappointing" topic for details myself and many others posted if curious.

Ugh, no picture frame whatsoever. Fantastic :P Wish I could remember why in the world I'd have a playthrough with no romances.

Thanks for your help, anyway. Guess I've just artificially made the game a lot longer, haha.

Right, like when she up and gacks her PA.

So she shouldn't protect herself and just let her assistant assassinate her like she was planning to do?

Liara is going to be real sad when I roll into town with Tali on Shepherd's arm :(

Hmm. It's strange that your LI doesn't show up on your import save summary.

The PA was never going to assassinate her except as a last resort. The intelligent thing to do - especially as an information broker - would be to keep the spy you're aware of and use it as a weapon against the Shadow Broker. A dead agent isn't going to do anything more than annoy the SB slightly.

I just imported a game where I did actually do the romance, and immediately found myself interacting with Liara instead of Ashley in the opening sequence. I take it this is another way of telling?

... as well as ratcheting up your renegade score when doing her side-quests.  I've already accumulated several unintentional renegade points (no idea where from, frustratingly - they just appear on quest completion <_<) so a bunch more from someone who apparently doesn't like renegades doesn't exactly make much sense.  I don't want to be too anal about the paragon thing, but I'd like it to at least reflect my decisions.

Edit: seems only the first bit of that quest adds to your renegade score; which is still unwelcome, but not as bad as every stage adversely affecting it.  I'm glad I read about not choosing the dialogue options in my "normal" sequence before doing this, too, though I now wonder what else I may have missed.
