Here's what's up:

1. Installed Game.

2. Downloaded all the DLC content, and redeemed Cerberus Network.

3. Started up ME2. (Works flawlessly except...)

4. Window pops up saying, "Unable to authorize the listed DLC."

5. I try to connect to Cerberus Network manually and it says, "Error: Cerberus Network activation requires Internet connection." (Now, I'm connected to the Internet, but ME2 doesn't recognize that.  It doesn't give me the option to manually connect either.  It seems to assume that I don't have a working Internet connection.)

My account is linked to ME2 and all the content shows up.  I also allowed it to bypass my firewall, so that's not the problem.  Wondering if anyone has a solution for this problem, and if not perhaps direct me in the right direction.
Been trying to figure it out on my own for the past few days, but haven't had any luck.  I paid for the content so I expect to be able to use it.

Thanks, Frag_ments

bummer, wish someone had a fix, or that someone from BioWare/ EA would post a solution somewhere. what's the point of technical forums when manufacturer doesn't offer solutions directly to the people having the problems?

Firewall.

Allow the game through your Windows Firewall. Open up ports listed if needed through your router. Don't use a 'cracked' executable to run the game.

Two reasons I can think of as to why it can't connect.

Thanks for the reply. I've opened all the ports and allowed the game access through the firewall. I don't think it's anything as simple as that.

Sorely disappointed with EA's customer service. Posted my question nearly 3 days ago and haven't gotten any response. I've beaten the game twice now, not being able to access my download-able content, which I paid for. Don't get me wrong, ME2 rocks hard, and I've enjoyed past Bioware games,  but EA's customer service hasn't even let me know if they're looking into my issue.

Found a solution on another thread, where someone had also no connection with IE and checking automatic detection in LAN in connection tab of the IE tool box did the job (IE was working for me but this solution worked)

I'm having this problem too. I thought it may have been ZoneAlarm but I'm still getting the error after uninstalling that. Reverted back to the original non-cracked .exe and that didn't help either. ****ing EA. Nothing has changed on my end except installing the Firewalker and appearance packs since last time I played.

Update, also tried deleting player1.prf from My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\BioGame\\Profile\\Player1 and that didn't help either.

Try going to options and turning off auto connect, restart the game and then try.

Has this problem been solved yet? I was able to authorise cerberus armour, zaeed and normandy crash site. Then i stopped ME2 cause i wanted to finnish ME1. Now, i finnished ME1 uploaded my characters to ME2, downloaded new dlcs, and it says i cannot connect to internet thus the new DLC are unauthorised.

I too have this problem, and I have the same problem with Dragon Age: Origins. If Bioware or EA insist on releasing the game with DRM, they'd better make damn sure it works. At this point, if this bug is not fixed, I will never buy another EA or Bioware game again. It is completely unacceptable that legitimate purchasers are blocked from accessing certain game features, whilst pirates nicely crack everything for their users.

Same problem, opened the ports as suggested in the readme file, and on windows firewall it is set to allow ME2 through.

Had no problems getting the previous packs (Armor, Zaeed) 2 months ago, bought and paid for the Kasumi addon and can't play it!!

The connection issues are actually related to the fact the in order to connect to the Cerberus Network, you basically need to turn of any fireawall appliances.

I actually run an industrial device with permit only rules.

Having purchased the game through Steam, I was given a list of TCP/UDP ports that where required to connect to Steam and to EA's Cerberus Network.

The ports I was given ORIGINALLY worked, but as of late (last several months) have not.

Using Wireshark to monitor the traffic connections I've been able to determine that Mass Effect 2 makes a number of attempts at two way communication using TCP over NON-STANDARD ports.

In a nut shell:  If you are even remotely security conscience and have a decent firewall in place, you're not going to connect to the Cerberus network.

Given how important internet security is, I find it MORE than a little odd that the ports are not easily found when perfroming a search.

Oh, and it might be useful for someone with a brain to note that both Tipping Point and various 3rd party products based on SNORT are blocking EA's traffic as well.

[It's hard to be nice about this when you find yourself having to troubleshoot a problem that shouldn't exist, because the solution effectively is to turn off all of your network security.]

:alien: I totally agree that this is idiotic.
Although I hope EA can fix it sometime before the end of the world, I, quite certainly, doubt it.

But still, thanks gbmaryland, now I can finally play! ^^
