To say the game locks up in kind of redundant.  After I've recoverd the IFF signal from the derelict Reaper ship and it's been installed on the Normandy, I run into a bit of a hitch.  Whenever an N7 mission comes up where you have to go groundside, the cutscene that follows when Miranda tells Shepard to meet the squad in the lower sections of the ship and is followed up by squad selection, the screen never comes up.  I can faintly hear music and sound effects, and, strangely enough, I can hit the 'Esc' key and the menu comes up, but the squad selection screen never properly loads, leaving me at an impass.

Has anyone else had this come up and if so, have you found a way of getting passed it?

There was a thread with a fix about just this issue somewhere. It did not work me but I'll take a look and see if I can hunt it down.

Edit: I am pretty positive I found it in this thread http://social.biowar...06/index/772168 it was a link to the thread with a fix. I gotta get out and shovel some of this damned snow.  I can not get much more specific. It is a long thread look in the 40's.

Having exactly the same issue. I've been running the game using the -nomoviestartup fix, and everything else but this one mission runs perfectly.

I read through a couple pages and found the 'fix' you talked about. Came across it a couple days ago because I was having problems with loading screens. I gave the 'fix' a quick test and didn't have any luck. However, I felt relieved to find that BioWare is aware of the issue and is going to release an official fix for the issue in their second patch.

We're aware of the issue, and will be working on providing a fix in the *second* patch. The first patch is going to be released very shortly, and thus it is too late for this fix.

To be clear, the fix does ONLY impact single core users (as well as dual core users who only have one core reported by their operating system (beyond our control). As a result, this is lower than our min-spec, so it's not a matter of "not testing the game". We're doing this so we can create the best game possible, and make sure that everyone is able to play.

Ill post more information as I get it. We will try to release this second patch in a timely manner, but we also want to make sure any patch does not create new issues.

In the meantime, I encourage users to try some of the 'home grown' solutions no this thread (which, by the way are very clever), and also encourage those with dual core machines which are being reported as single core to try and find a source of that (again, outside the scope and beyond the control of BioWare).

Thanks.

It's good to know that BioWare is one of the select few game developers who has their staff members patrolling the forums to scout out problems that people are having with their games and work to remedy those problems.

I've also been thinking about upgrading the RAM in my systerm from 3gb to 4gb in an effort to improve performance, though I know it won't have any impact on the way the video loads.

Crossing my fingers that BioWare can get that 'second' patch out within the next month or so.

Well at least Biowares working on something. Good to see they still care about the entire crowd... just takes them longer to get around to some of us.
