They both turn there back on you in your time of need..This is why Tali and Garrus are 10x's better.

Also I thought it was cute that since I hadn't pursued a relationship with anyone else, before the ship went through the omega relay, Shepard went up to her room looked at the picture on her desk, and walked out more determined than ever.

The point is Bioware wants you to be mad. They want to make it hard to stay loyal. It's good storytelling.

It's a pity you can't dump them via e-mail afterwards. Romanced Ashley in the first game, and seeing her on Horizon reminded my how much I hated her character. So I went with Tali.

Noooooooot looking forward to the impending ****-storm cheating on Ashley will bring in ME3. That'll be enough of a fight to make the Reapers seem easy.

I was glad when Ash started her **** fit! I was gonna dump her for Chuck's lady(Meranda) anyway!

I only shed maybe one or two tears when she sent me the poetry filled e-mail. Damn that picture of her in my Captain's Quarters... [snif]

I am actually quite peeved at Bioware for the lack of Kaiden Alenko.
As a paragon character who romanced him in ME1 I can understand his words. I do not understand why your character cannot interact with him at all! Even if he is just sometimes in Anderson's office or something.

I built my character (Marion) to be very good. As such I see her as loyal and did not pursue any other relationships hoping to get Alenko. I mean, it doesn't feel like two years to her, they were just in love and went through heck together in her eyes. Why would she just forget about that? It was depressing when in the end love scene she just went to stare at his picture.

I hope Bioware brings him back now that Cerberus is no longer standing between Shep and Alenko.

Well I've stated this elsewhere, but I'll say it here too. Kaiden and Ash have been stewing in grief and regret over your death for 2 years. Thats a long time. Think about how guilty they must feel that they lived and you died. They probably went over those last few moments over and over for months and months trying to think of what they could have done differently to save you.

And then you show up and for 2 years you've been in a coma... no ones dead, you didn't need to grieve.

People just don't come back from the dead and work for the enemy. I'm glad Kaiden stood his ground. I'm happy he got a promotion. I'm really interested to see where this goes in ME3.

The problem is.... how many fans are actually going to have the patience to wait another 2+ years to get a resolution to the ME1 love story?  My Shepard will remain loyal to Liara, no matter what.  But I'm worried that so few players will chose to do the same, Bioware will just dump the character outright due to fan disinterest.  The same goes for Ash and Kaidan.

That is also my worry. I feel very attached to Marion and her possibilities with Alenko. Secretly I had hoped she would have been pregnant, but I knew it would never happen.

From what I've seen, fans aren't going to lose interest.  Bioware knows a sizable portion of the series's fanbase is in the ME1 love interests, not to mention they've already promised cheating would have consequences and that ME3 would bring a conclusion to the ME1 and 2 love interests.

I wish there had been a interrupt to just punch him when he went off like that with out even trying to understand that "I've been dead for two years". After everything Shep had been through (dead, rebuilt, ect) and getting thrown right back into a impossible mission all she gets is yelled at. Yeah he has been through a lot but so has Shep, you don't see her stomping her feet and going off on people.

I felt kind of embarrassed for my character after she hugs him all warm and happy to see him then he just goes off on her in front of the people with her. So yeah no a kiss and make up he is done.

Kinda wonder how he will react to being replaced with Garrus though...ya know the guy who didn't freak out on me and let me explain and still trusted in me to do what was right.

I had no idea the Ashley/Kaiden decision would last through 3 games! I played a femshep in ME1 and Ashley was a good soldier to have on hand. Kaiden was a wimp. The only reason I allowed him to live was the possibility of LI. Later on it felt awkward flirting with a dude so Kaiden got the boot and Liara got the one night stand. I'm grieving knowing that poor Ashley died while Kaiden gets to be annoying for a few more MEs.

It pissed me off that there was no "help me take down Cerberus from the inside" option.

I thought we were bros, Kaidan. How could you turn into such a jerk?

The writing for the ME1 love interests was really disappointing. I know some people try to see the bright side in all this, and are patiently waiting for the promis-- implied ME3 payoff, but I can't share their optimism. A lot of talk was made before the release about "emotional engagement". Why were these cameos so short and disappointing then? Why do you have to really dig in to find the real Liara, basically luck out in finding the right convo option? And Ash and Kaidan don't even get that. There is no doubt about it, they were made unlikeable and cold by design, rather than miscalculation.

Please devs, if you read this, don't marginalize the ME1 LIs in ME3. And just have people talk more and longer. Especially if they think the other person has been dead for two years! You can always put an auto save after the convo, if action is to follow. Don't underestimate your audience, the dialogue and character relations are big part of the very emotional engagement you claim to want in the game. And give Shepard some better lines, the way he greets the shocked Tali was... well, to put it kindly, inadequate in the extreme.

Implied future payoff after a further payout is just bull****. You get credit for what you've done, not what you might someday hypothetically maybe do.

Unless we're talking the Nobel Peace Prize, which for some reason is for exactly that. Maybe Bioware should get one?

I was actually VERY satisfied with the Kaiden meeting. He's a man of principle, probably one of the characters that's closest to the "paragon" side of the scale in the crew of ME1. Cerebus is a seriously shady organization, and to him it probably looks like you might've even faked your death and have been with Cerebus the whole time. Not to mention that, considering Kaiden's backstory, he already has a lot of trauma when it comes to people he cares about. It wouldn't make ANY sense if he was thrilled to see the woman he loved and grieved over suddenly surface as a member of a terrorist organization.

I thought the e-mail sewed things up nicely, too, because it gave a little more insight into what he was going through emotionally. It's in character, it's well written, and I'm pleased with it. I trust that he'll have a larger role in ME3--Bioware made a point of leaving your LIs out of the suicide mission so they could be available for the final game in the trilogy. I don't see any reason for them to waste that with a lackluster role in the final game.
