Hi there...
I've been playing Mass Effect 2 since it was released and it has run like a dream on my computer with not a single crash, lock up, glitch, or anything.
Well now I am at the ending I believe and I am in the Collector Base on the mission where one of your biotic team members has to put up a shield to manuever your character and two other team mates around from the Collector swarms.
Every time I come across the second part of the fighting on this mission the game locks up. No error messages or anything it just hangs there and doesn't do a thing. Music still plays but nothing else works. I have to open task manager to close the game out.
I purchased the game from Steam and here are my specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500  3.16ghz
8.00G Memory
Nvidia Gegorce 275GTX

Any help on this would be great.
Thank you

Just as an update I tried to disable my sound card and play the game that didn't work. I also tried adjusting many of the graphic settings which also didn't help.

Anyone have this issue?

I'm having it lock up at Freedoms Progress, when i reach the first group of mechs. It also was running smoothly for me up to that point. If anyone could help us out that would be great!

Mine ran like a dream as well with no lock ups or crashes until the Collector Base.

Mine locked up a bit past your position though. Without giving too much you once again break off with your own squad. I brought Grunt & Legion. At the end of a battle section Legion would no longer advance or respond to any commands. I was fine, Grunt was fine, and movement was fine, music was playing but Legion although showing slight movement while standing, would not follow. That seemed in turn to affect the functionality of the control panel we needed to reach as it would not activate.

Reverting to the prior save and playing through solved my problem.
