So I want to retry everything cause people died at the end... I decided to keep playing for hours and hours and have tons of resources and everything explored. Now I want to go back to my save but will lose everything. Jacob died and that Mercanary guy. Would rather no one did. What to do. Go back and try again and lose (Element Zero 36,000, Iridium: 260,000, Platinum: 150,000: Pladuim: 250,000) what to do?

It isn't resources that matter - it is loyalty, upgrades, and choosing the right people for the jobs.

I did all the loyalty side missions everyone is with me 100 percent.. Upgrades I am confused on though.. I don't understand the Special training. Can I only beef that up once. Or do I get stronger everytime I select an option. Such as shredder rounds. biotic power etc.

Specialty Training is a single bonus ability you can get from completing Loyalty missions. You get to choose one power based on one of your party members abilities. For example, if you complete Miranda's Loyalty mission, you can select her "Slam" biotic power.

It is not just loyalty and upgrades, it is how quickly you go to the Omega relay after your crew is captured. If you IMMEDIATELY go, then everyone lives. If you wait and do a few side missions...people start dropping.

That has very little to do with it. People have been losing team mates regardless of these choices.

Also the make up of the teams you create during the final mission influence who lives and who dies. For instance grunt is a great warrior but he has no command skills so you wouldn't want him leading your fire team.

It is a combination.  You need ALL the ship upgrades, as you can lose three members just to getting blasted.  You need all loyalty quests done. You need to go to Omega IMMEDIATELY after your team is kidnapped and you need to choose the right people.  I did all of these twice and not a single person died, so it is not random.

When I say ship upgrades, I mean the ones that matter to combat: Hull, Shields, Weapons not the med bay or fuel, lol.
