I really love how you get to use all of your squad. It would be really fun with more quests like these where you get to coordinate your squad doing specific missions. The final mission was among my favorites in gaming so far. The end boss felt a bit silly, but i can live with it since everything else in the mission was great.

Anyone else nearly 1 shot the reaper with a stealthed cain shot? that will ruin the moment for sure :(.

I planned it out my first playthrough. Things were so tense, everyone was still alive, I was trying to come out with everyone alive, and I figured a climactic boss fight was coming up, so I had Cain with me. When the fight started with the reaper, Icharged it, shot it, about pissed myself from the tension before it hit, then BOOSH!

I thought it made it a little more awesome personally. Didn't one shot him, but was fairly freaking awesome.

I agree. Character development and interaction has been improved drastically, though fight with human reaper was a bit lame. ME1 ending was much better in my opinion.

DUH!!, maybe it wasn't finished being built?Posted Image

It felt epic and was fun enough, but I thought it didn't quite live up to the hype. It was too short and predictable. Perhaps I got lucky and perhaps I play too many video games, but I found it too easy to get through with no one dying and I didn't use a guide or anything.

Not every character got a chance to shine. I was hoping everyone would get a chance to do something heroic or vital during the mission. I was hoping for a revelation and meeting or conversation with Harbinger. I was hoping for a longer mission where things really go from bad to worse to outright desperate before finally the moment of triumph. Basically, it felt short after all that time working towards it and I wanted more.

Good, but had more potential.

I absolutely loved it, it really gave you a sense of urgency and danger. Especially if you somehow managed get someone killed. I had Thane and Zaeed die me even though they were both loyal. It gave me the feeling that anyone of them could die at any point, definitely cranked up the tension.

I'm also one of the few people that actually enjoyed the end boss. Did you really want to fight a puny little husk again like the Sovereign controlled Saren? Yes it would have been nice if it had been tougher, but I had no problem with the look. It has almost no identical features to the iconic T-800/101 endoskeleton other than the skull-like head and red eyes. They probably should have gone with different colored eyes but whatever.

I agree that it was one of the best executed missions / events of all third person (shooter) games.

I loved it as well :) I thought the end boss was appropriately epic and fine. I mean frankly, ME1's end boss was so much easier. Hopper Saren was not difficult - just wait for him to settle then blam blam. The Reaper wasn't finished nor anywhere near ready and it was just about finishing the job and dealing with any arriving Collectors before evacuating. It matched the tone set by the whole mission perfectly to me. I mean sure, they could have made the Reaper a bit more dangerous, but I just got the feeling that it was nowhere near ready for any kind of activation and so pretty much like gutting a barely functional machine.

I enjoyed it immensley, the music and the pacing were perfect and really helped set the tone of the overall mission. My first playthrough I was a complete pile of nerves not knowing if I made the right choices to put who on what team, hoping that I could bring everyone home, knowing in the back of my mind that anyone could die. The whole mission was an enjoyable roller coaster ride right up until the end.

I loved it.

I was on edge the entire time, worrying that someone on my team would die.

Then when everyone survived on my first try I felt complete and total satisfaction.

I don't get the people who say it is a letdown when everyone lives, I found it extremely satisfying when everyone lived. Especially since I did it on the first try with no hints, spoilers, guides, etc...

Yes. Best ending of any game I've ever played. This is despite the Terminator Reaper. That part was sorta inevitable though since this is the second part of a Trilogy, Bioware couldn't provide the emotionally satisfying battle against the hated nemesis. That'll have to wait for ME3. If I can't kill Arl Howe, I might as well fight a giant Terminator.

The overall mission, however, was just excellent. Even if you have everyone live - which I did - the mission is still dramatic as long as you haven't been spoiled. I wasn't sure what the exact formula was for beating the game and so each stage was pretty tense. When Jack started to falter right before we got to the doors, I thought I was going to lose her.
I had Garrus as my second fire team leader, and when he gets through the doors, he kinda slumps against a wall with his head down for a second. I'm not ashamed to admit that my heart fell a little thinking he was dead.
The ending was really, really fun. A dramatic formula that I hope Bioware repeats in future games. Only complaint: I wish they had made it clearer that the folks you left behind were "holding the line." I realized it after the fact, but it would have been even more epic if I had known at the time that Grunt was doing his part to keep Tali/Jack alive at the end.

(LOL bumping old thread)

Most definetely agree. I spent a lot of time preparing for the suicide mission through doing all the loyalty missions, and getting all the upgrades. By the time I was ready, everyone was loyal except
Samara. (Damned Morinth. X( ) The sequence where the Normandy was going through the ship graveyard and fighting those laser shooting robots was intense.

It was also awesome that I could assign certain people to different roles. At the time however I didn't want Tali to be assigned to any major roles, as she was my LI and I feared for her safety, so I had Legion take the vents. I was also rather proud of Garrus when he was able to lead the firesquad and kept Legion alive,(or functional in his case) I was happy knowing I could trust him with such an important task.

The mission wasn't without lost however, I sent Grunt as my second fire team leader and he died. I felt bad at first, but when I heard Tali safetly made it to the Normandy with the crew, I was glad.

As for the Human Reaper, I didn't find it ridiculous or anti-climatic like everyone else seems to think, although it was a really easy final boss. And finally destroying the collector base and telling TIM to shove it, awesome.

Overall, the suicide mission was indeed one of the best parts of the game and as soon as I took out the game, I thought, "I can't wait for ME3..."
