I can't even get pass the title screen without an error message stating...

"A sign-in change occured. Sign out of your gamer profile to continue"

When I sign out I can advance to the title screen. Then I'm prompted to sign into my profile again which I do. Next I try to upload my ME1 save, I'll pick the save I wish to use. After loading it I get the same sign-in error message from above and I can't advance without signing out. Only this time If I try to sign back in with my Xbox profile I can't advance at all, nor can I save  without signing in.

I'm desperate. I've never seen anything like this with any of my other games. I can't save my game at all.

I had this same problem.

I think it's a problem with the game disc because when I used my friend's copy, it worked fine and now I'm playing it with my disc and it works fine.

I think there's something corrupted on the disc, but once you get past that initial issue, it works fine.

I'm still going to go and get my copy exchanged 'cause it's just bull****.

I just picked up my copy this morning and had the same issue immediately at the start menu... I took it back to Gamestop and exchanged it for another copy and am still having the same issue! WTF?????????????????? There's a reason I stopped playing PC games years ago, and it was to avoid stupid ridiculous errors like this! Bioware needs a fix ASAP...

Apparently you only need to be logged on xbox live when the title screen appears. As soon as you press start you can go offline. Thanks Bioware.

I tried exchanging it and ran into the same problem. Has anyone else tried Beermilk's suggestion? I can't go online with my system, cause it RRoD a while back, I was able to restart my XBOX after that but I can't go online anymore.

I'm having the same issue, I've started a new games 2 times before and this has never happened. Just keeps disconnecting me from Live then the error message. I would agree with the corrupted disc theory but like I said this didn't happen before. Even if it is that means I'll have to send mine in most likely because Gamestop dosn't have any more of the Collector Editions.

Note: Tried unplugging my 360 from the net and nothings gone wrong yet.

It seems the issue is with creating a new character (dont know it ME1 transfer is involved will have to connect to Live and try it without) and Live. Which either means its a problem with Live and Microsoft needs to do something or its a problem with the Cerberus Network and Bioware needs to do something.

Also if your connection is not that great and has a tendency to go out then you'll have trouble cause ever time you re and disconnect the same thing will happen.

So really this is something that needs to be fixed as soon as possible

Ok an update:

I seem to have found a fix to my problem that may shed some light for some of you. What I did was make a new Player profile on my 360, one that I don't plan on taking online. I popped in Mass Effect 1 and started abrandnew game (not a new game + since this a new profile) then I manually saved my game shortly after. Exit back to the XBOX browser and go to the Hardrive memory and look up my save files. Went into Mass Effect 1 saves. You should see saves listed under your old profile name and new offline profile name. Here's the tricky part...

1. If you have a character or two you want to transfer over to ME2 just highlight the save with their name on it (it must also say it is saved under your old online profile) and make a copy of it. CAUTION!!!! Now it may ask you if you want to copy over the old save. I kept my old save just in case this didn't work and totally killed my save. The new copy will be saved under your new offline profile.

2. You can do this with any characters you have beaten the game with. wash, rinse, repeat.

3. Pop in Mass Effect 2 while still under your offline profile. Start a game you should notice instantly that you aren't bothered with the sign-in profile error message. Proceed to transfer your ME1 data into the new game and you shouldn't see the error ever again, and you can now save. Hurray!

The only downside to this is I haven't gone online with Mass Effect 2 yet, which I believe was the problem in the first place. I think it has something to do with going online for an update for ME2/ME1 or retrieving data from XBOX servers (hence the sign-in error message). I guess it was attempting to retrieve my dated ME1 data that was sent online under that 360 player profile since it could see I've sent info online with that profile, but with a profile and save that has never been seen online there is no need to update.

Pulling the online DLC is another story however.

I hope this helps people frustrated with this odd problem. I'm finally enjoying my renegade Risa Shepard!

I had this very same issue just 10 minutes ago. I restarted the system twice to no avail.

Then I decided to look into my profile setting, in particular the "Enable" auto-sign in. I disabled it, and was able to get right into ME2.

I don't think it's a corrupt disc issue, just a matter of the settings on the console. Though it's pretty stupid that the game is configured to work so strangely with the profiles.
