Apparently not EVERYTHING in ME1 transfers over smoothly in ME2. When I met him, he told me I shoved a gun in his face (the Renegade option in ME1). My character is pure Paragon, and certainly didn't choose the Renegade choice, so maybe the writers got sloppy about him on Illium.

I'm willing to bet that even if you straight kill him on Illum, he'll be back for ME3.

Yeah I got the gun in the face thing too. I guess some decisions didnt transfer over properly, it still was helarious seeing him in the N7 armor lol.
