so i beat the game, great ending
it does show all the reapers heading into the galaxy it seems. how is that possible? they need a mass relay to get themselves out of dark space. (citadel). so any explanation on how they are accomplishing it? or is it just a "oh **** they are coming" and we will find out how in me3?
question on the ending (spoiler)

Think back. Try to recall who built the mass relays, and who is part of the upstart civilization that's been around less than 50k years while using tech left by the people that built the mass relays in attempt to force their civilization to develop along the intended lines.

Okay, on second thought, I'll throw you a bone.
Mass Effect Drives aren't the last word in Reaper tech. The Reaper fleet can use this thing called a Plot Device Drive, which allows them to travel vast distances quickly when necessary.

that doesnt make sense, soverign spent centeries strating out how to activate the citidel mass relay. when they could just use this so called PDD you are refering to. so it was a choice of centeries of trying to use the citadel relay, or 2-3 of manual flying. doesnt make sense

Because the Citadel is still in the Council race's hands, so they'll be more able to coordinate a response instead of being easy targets like the Protheans were. And I'm sure they were either flying towards the galaxy in those centuries of Sovereign setting everything up for them, or they just didn't need to harvest the races at that particular point.

They probably had a relay linking to the Citadel, but since the Citadel isn't active they can't directly just go there. So they need to manually drift there while the entire galaxy is playing "I'm superior to you!".

but they cant drift! it stated all in me1 that they can not get there on their own, they needed the citadel relay to be activated to get out of dark space.
they cant drift here, its too far

uh they are immortal and have near infiniate power there is no such thing as too far. Its just a matter of how long it actualy takes. And beyond that all the talk about how they are "Trapped in darkspace" is told to you by Vigil who is just a prothean VI and doesnt truly know everything about the reapers he only knows what the protheans knew which is far from everything.

The Reapers arn't Trapped in any way, if they were trapped why in gods name would they go back to trap them selves over and over again? The only reason(i think) they chill in Dark space (IE: outside the Milky way) is because no ship can possible get to them, thus keeping them safe from detection while they do what ever they do out there. As sovereign stated they are infinite, they have no end. So in all honesty a year would be pretty much like a few seconds in comparison to them.
I would be inclined to say the Reapers only use the Citadel Relay because its effective and offers the best probability of success through a massive surprise attack which eliminates the species leaders and takes out a massive amount of what ever fleet is flying around the citadel. They then turn off the Mass relays(?) cutting off all other systems from each other. Thus allowing them to systematically destroy each system one by one. Rather then doing a full frontal assault where probability of success in their minds would drop somewhat since they galactic species now has time to prepare for the invasion. (its obvious the species do have the tech to destroy the reapers... just look at the Derelict Reaper mission (Reaper IFF) It got killed by some beam from the near by planet if i heard correctly.)
Side note: who wants to bet by the time those thick headed politician rejects that are the council figure out the reapers are real, its gunna be to late and they get vaporized? If so who wants to see them die just so you can say "i told you so!!! in your vaporized face! HAH!!!" when they are killed by the reapers.

^ i would find it so funny if the reapers just jumped out in front of them, they go o my god shepard was right now we are all dead! then the normandy pops out kills them all and shepard tells them "HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAVE YOUR SCALY ARSES BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO BELIEVE ME!" now that would make my day

It's indeed far, but the writers needed something to buy Shepard time to find a way to stop the reapers.
