Ok so the Illusive man wants you to kill the Collectors but keep the base so he can send a team in the study.  How is this in any was a good idea? Even if you are a Renegade it is a dumb choice.  Just look at what happened to the team they sent in to study the dead Reaper you have to explore when you find Legion.  Also if you pick the blow it up ending you see a Reaper give up control of the station right before you blow it.  Sooo if you only killed the Collectors that Reaper would still be in control of the base and would just turn any Cerberus people on the base into their new slaves.  There is no up side to keeping that base around...

Which is precisely why I destroyed the base and told The Illusive Man to screw off.

The galaxy deserves better than Cerberus.

I thought it seemed logical to save the base, I didn't choose it because I wanted to give Cerberus the key to dominating the galaxy. Shepard and his elite squads have managed to kill 1.5? Reapers in a span of 2-3 years. It seems like they need all the help they can get to stand a chance against that massive reaper fleet.

Good job.  Now Cerberus will make a new reaper to secure human DOMINANCE in the galaxy.  Opps.

is it just me or does anybody else think that human reaper was a bit cliche? i didnt feel as though it was reaper, sure it was in its infantile stage, but all the reapers we have seen are based on that squid design with some variations, this human reaper seemed small in comparison and woefully under powered. other than that i destroyed the base cuz it would be stupid to try to keep it :P

Shepard killed a reaper (half built, but it's still a reaper) while on foot!

The way somebody else explained it on another forum, the reapers are created by the conquered race so they may have the intelligence and minds of the species. After it's completely built, it's then incased into a shell that looks like the squid-reapers we've seen and they move around.

It makes sense, because imagine a floating giant naked man destroying the galaxy and that's what we would've got with the human reaper.

I wouldn't mind a human reaper, but I would like it if it looked like a traditional Reaper, and didn't look like the T-800. Okay really I felt like the final boss was the T-800. It really ruined the whole Cthulhu vibe the reapers had been giving off.

see, the problem with getting reaper technology isn't the fact that cerberus is the bad guys, or that they'll use it to let humanity gain control.

it's the fact that we'd have to liquefy a million turians or so to have a turian reaper. and really, that's just to much work to round them up

If you paid closer attention it is mentioned that all the reapers are designed to look like the last culture/race they destroyed off the face of the galaxy.

Statues of the protheans in the first game show them being squid-like with tentacles on their sides.

Hence why the human reaper looked....like a human.

It was a larvae or w/e it was called and it took him a while to take it down.  There's thousands of them coming.  Sovereign decimated the Alliance Fleet on the Citadel.

i thought the protheans couldnt be made into reapers and thus were made into collectors or am i wrong? even still the reapers we have seen are not based completely around prothean anatomy, the have tenticals attached to a larger body, streamlined, and looking very ship like, other than the tenticles there is almost no connection to the protheans, and this human reaper entirely looks like human anatomy, i just thought it odd is all.

I think Bastila put it best;

"Take your enemies greatest weapon - turn it - and use it against them"

I think his intentions are noble - but the end doesn't justify the means.

Epic quote.

Illusive Man is just practicing the age old plan of...all your base are belong to us.
