Ok, so I get the reaper IFF and everything and then try to use the star chart. This begins a scene with Joker and he says the "IFF is installed blah blah". Edi is then all "omg its not safe use the shuttle" and I am all "mmmk". Then Miranda goes "c u @ teh shuttle with the gang" and I am like "mmmk". THEN the problems start.

As soon as the scene ends I get flashed a loading screen very briefly and then the game just goes to a black screen all together. The wierd part is that I can still hear the ambient background noise from the bridge (humming of computers etc).

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

funny thing is you can still use the exit menu, i have tried to save it then reload but just sends me back to b4 it loads :'(

Are you using the single core fix? If so, you have to replace only these files:

I also heard that switching to fullscreen or turning all to low worked for some poeple.

hey what hexivor was saying what that if your using the fix only replace THOSE SPECIFIC FILES. I tried it and got past the problem! I guess its where it loads so fast on the blank biks that it doesn't load right cause it goes straight to a cinematic after loading. AWESOME! thanks for the help!.

What I meant is that you have to replace the original videos from the ".../Mass Effect 2\\BioGame\\Movies" with those I indicated you from the unofficial fix, instead of overwrite the whole movies folder.



@Rinken: I can't remember any link for the fix, I downloaded mine from TPB, but I remember there was DD ones too.

I tried only using the fixes version of those files and I am still having this problem.

Black screen, ambient sounds in the back ground. Unlike some other people I cant bring up the squad/load/save/codex screen or anything like that (if I try I just get a little 'bzzt' sound).

Well, no idea Hexivor, it worked for me. You sure reinstalled the game (or added back the original movies from the .iso) and then replaced only those files?



@cloud1833: Maybe later on the campaing, on of the non replaced videos makes you freeze, you can overwrite the whole movies folder again after the shuttle scene problem.

once again i ahve same issue as Hexivor... tried changing the files, cant load menu's or anything. This is honestly the worst release for bugs i have ever seen for a headline game

Yes I did that, still didnt work. =(. I also tried doing it with max reduced settings.

/sigh I knew I should have just gotten this on X-box.

I think Bioware is going to fix this problems on the second patch. But they don't even have the release date of the first one, so yeah, bad choice I guess



Keep trying different things, or watch the other threads about this problem, maybe you find another solution.

Bleh, nothing works. I think ill just make a second character and be a renegade this time. I cant wait till I get to recruit thane because I really wanna kick that one merc captain out of the window.

Hopefully you yell "THIS IS SPARTA" when you do it.

Yeah, I just got to this problem too.
Edit: Exactly as you described it as well. Black screen, ambient noise, cant bring up anything.

Edit Edit: I've also just realized that this means I can't go fly around and do side quests either. :|

Good thing I'd backed up the original movies folder - saved me a reinstall.
