I had just gotten the Cain heavy weapon and I wanted to try it out.
one shot. 3 kills:whistle:
EDIT: I forgot to mention, after watching it happen I was kind of in shock. the ship hadn't even left the campsite yet. I think i may have destroyed the ship, but I'm not sure tho. I was to busy picking my jaw off the floor.
hope this helps

Yeah sorry I just got on that mission today and I'me not having much luck either. I'me also playing on veteran so those mechs tend to be a real pain in the a** to take down, I can only imagine how much harder playing on hardcore and insanity is going to be this time around. I suggest taking an upgraded heavy weapon with you to take them down as fast as possible, I'me guessing the "nuke" gun would be the most effective but I havent gotten it yet. Good luck.
Was only able to get 8 on Insanity and that involved alot of skill. I doubt people are going to get much higher than that( without a nuke).

I got 12 left on hardcore by my focusing on one and sending Zaeed and grunt after the other two, my question is this, why doesn't my Cain work? i got it and wanted to try it but it didn't work, died 5 times trying to make it work.
You probably don't have it charged to 100%
i haven't beaten this yet on insanity...It is quite difficult

Yeah, pretty sure you need 100% heavy weapon ammo before the cain will even fire, and then you have to charge it up for a few seconds. Also, the blast radius is enormous and will kill you as well if you're caught in it.
It does rock for taking out heavy mechs quickly, though.

8 Crates was the max and that's 'cause I got seriously lucky and shot the one in the head/killed when the other was standing next to it
Both partners, whom ever I chose, sucked - just too much firepower, too much armour/shields/hp and no cover
it.
Shields on those things need to be toned down a bit

I was wondering, can you actually get the Cain's ammo to 200%? One shot means, it has to be at at least 100%. I got it to 170% at best...

I think it's theoretically possible if you conserve ammo throughout your entire playthrough. I took the Cain with me on the endgame mission and had 190% ammo. I only got the one shot off on the boss, but it was a good 'un!Shin-Anubis wrote...

It is possible, but there may be a glitch associated to it. With 6 heavy weapon ammo capacity upgrades you get 90% and with the armor leg piece another 10% more. Makes 200% Cain ammo. I played the endgame about a dozen times from 3 different complete playthroughs and only a single time did I get 200% just before facing the final boss. So either one research upgrade or the armor piece does not properly give you the bonus % heavy weapon armor. Nasty glitch :-( My solution: mod the coalesced.ini file to give the Cain more ammo from the start or decrease the AmmoPerShot :-) Like 1% ;-D
You can even use it in the Normandy cargo hold to kill off Occulus. Bit unrealistic, but fun :-D

Anyway, the most I've ever saved is 8. Insanity.

Edit: They should give you more money or at least something else if you are playing on insanity. This mission was too hard for it's mediocre reward.
