Assuming you were in your character's shoes, would you really go through with the Joining and drink the darkspawn blood or would you be like Ser Jory and try to fight Duncan? Keep in mind Duncan would have to kill you if you dont go through with the Joining so you dont spread the secrets surrounding it. And Duncan is likely much better at combat than you. And if somehow you did beat Duncan, Alistair wouldnt just let you walk away either especially because he's fond of Duncan and because of the secrets.

What would you do?

Well seeing how you could possibly die from both choices I'd go for the Joining. At least it comes with a chance of surviving. :?

Yes I would, but at that point where they tell you whats really going on it would be stupid to try to run away. It's really fudged up in my opinoun. I think more warning should have been involved, and it made me see the Grey Wardens in a very negative light, even though I knew my characters didnt have a choice... especially my first playthrough when I was a Dalish. I felt like Duncan should have made it clearer that there was no going back once they initiated the ritual so they had a chance to get away, but he was too desperate for recruits so I think he didn't want to risk it.

I knew what I had to do so I wasn't worried, but seeing the way the other recruits where being mislead hurt. The all mighty Grey Warden's slayers of the darkspawn can be just a cruel as the taint that flows within them.

I would. My character was a human noble though. I don't she cared much if it was fatal at the time.

I would, at that point your charecter usually doesn't have much other choice and running isn't really an option.

Also, I don't think they are cruel for not giving fair warning, they just realise that it is best not to advertise the fact that death is likely otherwise no one would want to become a Grey Warden. And Thedas needs Grey Wardens.

I would summon the blue wardens to attack Duncan. Then I wouldn't have to drink his pee.

Well, if it was me, I think Daveth said the lines I would think in the minutes waiting for Duncan to arrive, so yeah, I'd do it.

Yes.

imho this world needs a blight-like catastrophe to iunno..."wake people up" Not sure if that makes any sense. Sounded good in my head!

That being said, I'd be a hypocrit if I said no.
