After playing through the game, I couldnt help feel a disconnection with the side-quests. In the first game, there were missions regarding your origin story, and there wasnt any of that on this one.
Will the N7 missions carry any weight on the next game? How about those side-Missions I did on Omega? Or will they just be mentioned off in passing on some Citadel News Broadcast? (which isnt a bad thing though)
Redundant Missions?

That's a good question. I really liked doing the side quests in ME 1; there don't seem to be a lot of them with real background in ME 2, and I say this with 100% completion in both games. ME 2 side missions were kind of "oh hey, weird anomaly detected." I spent the entire time in ME 1 duking it out with Cerberus operatives, only to have that really mean nothing in ME 2 besides some "thank you" emails.
