So, I was thinking earlier about his and this is how I think ME3 will handle squad mates.

In ME3 we will have:

Tali

Garrus

Liara

Ashley/Kaiden

Legion

MIranda

Jack

Grunt

Jacob

Mordin

Most likely not included:

Wrex - Grunt is sort of a replacement minus the biotics and Wrex will be a cameo etc. as he still needs to lead the clan/save the Krogans. He was also a killable option in ME1.

Thane - He is dieing and will most likely be dead or to ill to fight in the next game.

Samara - Liara replaces her and Samara said she was leaving after the mission. She will most likely cameo as she said she would come to our aid if we ever called.

Morinth - Same deal with Samara, she will go back to killing and hiding and you will have to stop her.

DLC sqaudmates will not be included.

That leaves us with 10 possible sqaud mates.

Non sqaud mate returns:

EDI

Joker

Dr. Chawkwa

Love Triangles for the win. In ME1, I romanced Ashley. This time around, Tali (had to get that alien lovin.) It will be interesting to see what those two have to say to each other in ME3.

Yeah, but there isn't party banter so much anymore, at least it's been really lessened. Still, I'm sure it will do something.

I doubt we'll have that many from both games in our squad. Only Tali and Garrus made it into ME2 after all, so I wouldn't expect more than three or five recruitable squaddies from the previous games.

I pretty much agree. I'll be happy as long as tali continues as an LI/squadmate, but it will be interesting to see who else makes it to the finale. Gonna be awful tough for Bioware to please everyone.

I agree with this. Though I actually think there will be more than 10 teammates. I have a gut feeling.

This has been discussed quite a bit, a lot of speculation, it's all we can do right now. I'm in favor of older and already established characters returning to be developed instead of bringing in new ones. How Bioware can bring in characters that run the chance of dying is tough, they could do it but that would mean quite a bit of money on the resources to achieve it.

And we probably won't hear anything until... what... E3 2010? June? Even then the amount of info they share will probably be minimal. Oy. Quite disheartening, it's gunna be a tough wait.

I find it hard to believe ME3 will contain more than a few new faces as squad members. We've spent the last two games getting to know a whole slew of different characters. We've fought, laughed, cried, loved, and died together. Introducing a whole new squad along the same lines as ME2 just doesn't make any sense. I mean, it's the epic conclusion! There needs to be closure! How many great trilogies do you know of where they introduced an entire new cast of characters in the third act? They can't just pass off the fan-favorites and characters we've all grown to know and love as simple cameos like they did in ME2. The only reason they could do it this time around is because of the promise of them returning for ME3. That's no longer the case. I'm certain Bioware knows they can't pull this now, and knows that in the event we don't see our favorite characters return... there will be blood.

There will certainly be a few new faces or folks returning from ME1. The fact that a huge chunk of your squad can die in ME2 makes it pretty necessary. I suspect Garrus and Tali will continue as squad members but after that it becomes a crap shoot for me. I'd love to see Mordin come back but I actually think he will be a non-squad member on your ship. Maybe taking over as the ship's doctor.

Yes, but they said the reason for this was because they needed to make sure the ME1 squadmates could not be killed in ME2 during the suicide mission. They also put Garrus and Tali in for romance options and they were soem of the most liked ME1 squad mates.

I can usually predict these things and I was right about Garrus and Tali being LI's early on so I have a gut feeling this will be the case as well.

Can't Tali and Garrus die during the last mission? I'd like to keep both of them along with Miranda, Grunt, and Mordin.

I agree sounds pretty good actually.

Though i do also believe the team will be slightly larger, with most of the crew being the returning cast.
It just sounds right to have your surviving allies to be there at the big finale.

I can't say I agree with this.  Unless Bioware creates a massive plot twist to split up your teammates again for an extended period of time, why would they leave?

First of all, I don't see Bioware splitting your team up again after doing that with this game.

Secondly, this game to me was really an excuse to give you a team they couldn't give you in ME1.  I mean the majority of this game is recruiting and loyalty missions, why would they make an entire game for that then just disband it in ME3?  You won't have enough time to get another party together (imo) in ME3, the Reapers aren't still sleeping.. they're awake AND moving towards our Galaxy.

Lastly, those that said they'd leave did so -before- you gained their loyalty.  I think those that aren't loyal may sort of wonder off somewhere, but Shepard is a hero; a legend.  After helping his/her squadmates, gaining their trust.. I just can't see them tossing a hand up and going "GL!! Roflcopter, G2G!!" :P

They say it even after their loyalty missions. Samara does at least, and Thane is still dying, which is why I put them in that category.

I really don't think they're going to kill Thane off, and Samara finished her quest to kill her daughter.  None of the characters through my playthrough sounded like they were definite in leaving after the mission, unless they weren't loyal.

They sounded more wishy-washy than anything.  So *shrugs* I dunno, I don't see them taking ME2 characters out unless they died.  I do see them bringing ME1 characters back in, but not as squadmates.

My guess is they're going to have them high ranking officials to help you out in the war with the Reapers.  Like Kaiden will control a regiment, Liara will supply you with serious info, Wrex / Krogan leader will also support troops.

I mean from what I've seen in this game, it's really setting Shepard up with some friends in really high places.  Possibly for Shep to call on in ME3.

I'll be immensly surprised if they don't bring back all of the potential LIs from both games as squadmates, including even Thane. It doesn't seem like a fair or sensible call to sideline only one of them.

Going on what we know, three squadmates must survive the final ME2 mission for it to be a success(Anyone done it with less) so, with Ash/Kaidan and Liara that's at least 5 for every player.

Honestly, I didn't find ME2 a standalone -at all.-  I didn't play ME1 *prepares for the beatings* :crying:  Tbh, in ME2.. I was -completely- lost.  Between ME1 and ME2 there has to be a serious connection.  So I figure the same will go with ME3.

Again, I just can't see ME3 scrapping most of your squadmates from ME2.  There'll definitately be new ones, but for ME2 to spend SO much time acquiring that particular squad?  Nah... just can't see'em scrap'n any of them tbh

My opinion of course.

Two squadmates + Shepard is the lowest you can go.

As has been mentioned earlier, there's no way Bioware can leave out the potential ME2 LIs, especially since ME3 is the finale. That means 6 of the 10 ME2 squaddies are guarenteeed to return, minimum, not counting Ash/Kaiden/Liara. It would be incredibly stupid of them to sideline your significant other in the final part of the trilogy.
