Same. I'm happy with ME2. Not happy with the cameos. I only bought the game because Tali and Garrus were in it. Wouldn't have been the same without em.
I don't believe either of you. You are too much of a fan to miss out on ME3.

The only possible sure shot is Liara for squad mate in ME3. A slight possibilty that Ash/Kaiden will be squad members in ME3. Everyone else can make an appearance if they survived, but won't be in your squad. Unless EA/Bioware is willing to expend a great deal of man hours, money and resources to include characters that an uncertain number of people managed to keep alive in ME2. I certainly doubt that they would do that.
Most people are going to have the majority of their companions alive. That's fairly obvious.

Nope, I'm really not. There are quite a few things that I did not like, severely, about ME2 that would kept me from purchasing it if I didn't have my favorite squadmates.

Oh my lord I've explained this countless times; fan popularity.
Take Tali and Garrus(Yes I'm biased, sue me). The majority will have those characters survive. Just as the majority will have Shepard survive(duh).
I expect certain characters to be canon as survivors. I expect the rest, less popular characters interchangable with new characters, based on your choices in the previous import.
Think about it.
ME2 is entirely about building your squad. The whole human reaper thing is rather small in comparison to the story focus.
You build your Dirty Dozen, solve everyone's problems, and then all of a sudden your elite crew is gone in the next game? That would render ME2 utterly meaningless as a part of the trilogy.
A new squad does not make sense storywise. At all. There are ways to work around characters possibly dying. Bioware has a LOT of resources; they aren't exactly a small company.
Hah, damn man... hey don't get me wrong, I'm with you. Very bias also to the three I mentioned. But we can't say it's a for sure thing of course. And certain signs would point to them not coming back.
"You build your Dirty Dozen, solve everyone's problems, and then all of a sudden your elite crew is gone in the next game? That would render ME2 utterly meaningless as a part of the trilogy. " This part of what you say is the biggest... like I say, I'm with you 100%. I hope your right though. It's the last step, I think a lot of us as players don't want a whole new crew, maybe no one new at all. Just people from ME 1 and 2. Honestly if Tali was gone, my ultra Paragon Shepard might try to destroy the galaxy.
Garrus is to damn special to the team to be gone... He's my Shep's best friend the way I see it. And Legion is to friggin awesome to go. Way to awesome.

ME3 SHOULD NOT be about building a team. This was the FOCUS of ME2 and occupied nearly all of your gameplay time. If ME3 comes out and we are 'building our team' again for the 5/6 th's of the game again that would be a very bad idea. Maybe 1 or 2 new members should be introduced but beyond that will be pushing it.
This sums up my thoughts exactly. Give us maybe 3 new people max just in case you really biffed the suicide mission and a large portion of your crew died. But other than that, bring back the old squadmates!
BioWare, you did such a good job making us give a damn about our old squadmates, don't just rip them away from us for the finale!

Have faith. What they did to the ME1 crew aside from Garrus and Tali was a huge slap in the face to the fans, and I doubt Bioware will make the same mistake twice.
Instead they'll make brand new ones, but that's okay.

I'll change my stance on this...as long as Liara is a squad memeber I don't give a crap if I have to put up with Garrus again. I'll just leave him to rot on the ship as I always do.
However, if Garrus is in again and Liara isn't, I will freak!!! I won't buy the game, period.

Totally agree. ME3 should be about recruiting armies. What good comes from recruiting individuals against thousands of Reapers. You already have a badass team(Everyone survived in my playthough). As long as Miranda is in my team for ME3 I will be happy.

Liara is no longer skilled enough to defeat Shepard, her overpowered abilities have been lost

Personally, if I hear another person whine about Tali or Garrus being in the squad of ME3 I'm going to scream. Sure, maybe it doesn't make sense for them to randomly vanish. I want them there too because Tali is one of the most well done characters I have ever seen in a game. But still, her not being there will not effect me buying the game. Garrus just honestly got on my nerves this round... so he won't either.
I think Tali and Garrus have had their spotlight, and considering they can be dead... there's a 50/50 shot they'll be members of your squad. I just really, really want Kaidan/Ashley back in the squad so things can really be resolved and not in the way of another lame cameo.
Bioware, of course, will have new people but I hope they keep it to 3 or 4 maximum. I will most likely still buy the game if Kaidan's not in your squad, but it will be solely to see how the relationship pans out even in a cameo... ugh, it better be good.
Then again, doing a cameo in ME3 like they did in ME2 for ME1 or ME2 love interests seems totally unfair, because it's the end of the trilogy and things have to be resolved.

Wrex leads united Krogan (for battle with reapers).
Tali lead Quarians (she becomes Admiral)
Legion will sort of "lead" Geth against reapers
Don't know who will lead salarians, asari, humans, turians.
What I expect is that all should return. I like them all.
Some of my reasoning and hope devs read it and consider it:
We already have good teams we faced threats with. In both ME1 and ME2 we built teams. A bit portion of the game consists of getting the team. It would be redundant and not innovative to do the same is ME3. Sure you can get 1 or 2 new members, but the core of the team is there already. Everything they did previously was for the "last battle" and each member knows it. Maybe I grow attached to the characters, but thats what I hope for.

totally agree. maybe afew 2-4 new characters that might really add something to the story or carry the plot...
we need some more boss-villians though. heros are only as good as those they defeat
I just hope it doesnt turn into DA:O... getting all the 'races' to fight. just plainly that- which wouldnt make sense... the reapers are more advanced...

My perspectives regarding some the characters:
Legion - would be the easiest to bring back in my opinion. My bet is that there will be a strong “gather your allies” for the final battle with the reapers component to the final game. If I am right the non-Heretic Geth will be one of these allies. Your squad will naturally be composed of members from your allied races. Legion is the obvious pick in this regard. He is an already established and interesting character and underutilized because of his late introduction in ME2. He provides continuity with the previous game. In the event that he died during the suicide mission remember that he is also a robot - repairing and reactivating his “corpse” does not pose any major imaginative barrier if the developers want it to happen. That means that he can be present in all continued games not just in ones in which he didn’t die.
Miranda - Proves loyal to Shepard at the end. By leaving Cerberus her lot is now seemingly tied completely to Shepard; therefore no obvious reason to leave if alive. LE character. Presumably Cerberus will play a role in the third game. Miry is an obvious choice to provide insight into the organization throughout the game. Sexiest Bioware character period.
Tali - Now “vas Normandy”; no obvious reason to leave. LE character. Fan favorite. Having a squadmate that offers continuity throughout all three games would be a nice touch.
Grunt - Already had Wrex and now Grunt. Introducing another male Krogan to replace him on the squad seems pointless. Grunt is the ultimate pure Krogan. Shepard is his battlemaster. He lives entirely to kill the most dangerout opponents possible. No reason why he would want to leave before the final battle with the reapers.
Other characters already have “outs”:
Thane - terminal illness
Samara - not committed beyond the suicide mission
Mordin - possibly too old. Seems inclined to die during suicide mission.

you guys are assuming that every player has a game where everyone survived. even if only some squadmates survived bioware has no way of countering the different combinations people got. remeber the whole reason wrex wasnt a squaddie in this game was because bioware had to allow for the fact that people MIGHT have killed him and didnt want to voice and animate an entire character only for it not to be used. well they have 10 wrex's this time with me2's various endings
This.
My friend hated the new squadmates so she didn't bother with any of the loyalty missions, bar one, barely upgraded the Normandy, and deliberately got everyone killed including cyborg Shep.
All those ME2 squadmates are going to be cameo'd. They were designed as cannon fodder. I doubt any of the ME1 squad mates will be back either. Those who stick around for ME3 will be getting an entirely new roster of squad mates.
