That actually doesn't sound too bad. I really hope they drop making more squadies and focus on extra side missions instead. I like the makeup of the previous two squads combined and feel that we don't need new characters.

I really don't think there will be many if any new characters. They've already introduced a large number of squadmates that we have had to develop and make loyal etc. They will definitely have the old squadmates from ME1 and ME2, but I can't see there being more then 1 or 2 new ones.

Tali and Garrus (if they live) really have nowhere else to go, Garrus especially.

Tali can go back to the Flotilla easily if she was exonerated by Shepard. She could become an admiral. If she was exiled then she could do something to redeem herself.
Garrus can go around killing criminals like he did on Omega.

Anyone who might be dead in ME3 won't be a full party member IMO. Consider how small of a role the council played in ME2. What did they have, like one thirty-second conversation with Shepard? No doubt, that was intentional, because every council dialogue had to account for six possible scenarios.

Now, imagine the amount of variables involved if they decided to include every previous squad member from ME1 and 2 as full-blown squaddies in ME3. Depending on your choices in ME1 and 2, you would have somewhere between approximately three and fourteen people in your squad! Simply put, this is not going to happen.

Alternatively, if Bioware was going to pick and choose which recruitable charcters from ME1 and 2 will be included as full squad members in ME3 and then sideline the rest, what criteria should they use to decide who makes the cut? Should they go with the "fan favorites" (like Tali and Garrus)? Or maybe they should choose Miranda because...well...she's Miranda? Either way, there are going to be people who don't get to experience these characters because in THEIR universe, these people are dead. I don't think Bioware wants to punish their customers in this way simply because they didn't finish ME2 with everyone alive.

So realistically, the most optimistic scenario for ME3 imo is that Liara will be in (because she can't be killed), and Ashley OR Kaiden will fill another slot. Other than that, I predict an all-new squad. The reason I'm including Ash/Kaiden is that regardless of your choices so far, Ashley OR Kaiden have to be alive for ME3. So there's a slim chance that Bioware will include both of them as full squaddies, even though in any given playthrough, only one of them will be accessible to the player.

As for the rest of your previous squad members, expect more cameos, bizarre changes of heart, and lame excuses for why they can't come with you (except for Thane, since he'll probably be dead).

Well, we know for sure most of the ME1 squadmates will return as that was the reason they were not included in ME2. They wanted to guarantee they survived the suicide mission and the best way to do that is remove them.

Yeah, however, I would think no more than 3 of them. But the ME2 squad (inculding Garrus and Tali) ain't looking too good atm.

I actually think the list I have is completely possible. It just depends on Bioware's budget and how much time and effort they are willing to invest in ME3.

To start with I must have at least this guy on my team

" KAL'REEGAR "

After him I would want.....

-  Zaeed  (saved my arse a bunch of times in ME2 and that makes him good in my book)

-  Tali

-  Garuss

-  Jack

-  Ashley

-  Mordin

-  Jacob

-  Aria  ( owner of the Afterlife Club ) if she can crush a krogan then that speaks for itself.

-  Wrex or grunt ( I would have to watch them around Aria though)

If I had that team I would not need anyone else.  B)

Anything is possible, just don't get your hopes up. Remember, they're trying to do a fast turnaround from ME2 to ME3 to stay within the 360's lifecycle.

Personally, I hope they simply bring back the cast from ME1 and 2, and you get to have whoever you haven't gotten killed so far in the saga. Maybe add in one or 2 for those who killed Wrex in 1 and got the entire squad killed in the sequel, you awufl, awful people.

There's a few of the ME2 cast who, even if they survived the suicide mission, probably wouldn't be able to return. Thane, unless a cure is found, the DLC characters, possibly Samara decides her pledge to you is ended and maybe Mordin retires due to old age. Though hopefully he retires to serve on board your ship, even if he doesn't come on missions with you.

And the drug-addicted, Volus Biotic God joins the cast of course. He's a must.

Here's something I thought of that would make it easier to have a more open squad list.
Instead of the game focusing on recruiting like this one did, make the squad less essential to the plot. Maybe at the beginning you choose ~10 from a list of available past squad members and they can join up quickly (gather at the ship, or a short pickup trip to get them). Obviously they'd have to be alive still according to your save.

Then focus the story on something else. Gathering support from Races in order to fight the Reapers (ala Dragon Age) or something along those lines. If the missions are focused more on the plot instead of squad members, it is much easier to write more people in. Obviously certain members would have more attachment to missions (Tali in helping the Quarians, Grunt/Wrex in helping the Krogan, etc).

We've spent games 1 and 2 developing a network of impressive squad members that have and would follow Shepard into any mission, so let us use them. There's no need to spend the whole game finding more of the best, when you already have the best.

I really want all of the former squad members to be recruitable, since it's the last piece of Shepard's story, have him be surrounded by the team he (we) want. Introduce maybe a few new characters, but keep it to maybe 2.

As awful a plot device as it is, I wouldn't complain if they performed the Lazarus project on Saren and he came back for redemption to fight against the reapers.

Wait...yeah, that would still be bad.

LOL Saren won't happen unless Bioware goes crazy I think. I think however they do it sqaudmates need to have some side quests and more development.

I think Kal'Reeger will definitely play a part, but I don't think he will be a squadmate.

Kal reegar is the Shiala of ME2, a side charachter that Can die, but everyone wants as a squadmate in the next game.

I agree with the post that says the game should focus more on the overall story and less on the squad this time, although still have personal missions.

I think he will play a role as a side character. Someone who helps defeat the reapers by leading a Quarian sqaud or something.

I'm acctualy hopeing that the squad we use to go up against the reapers is a mix out of the characters from both ME1 and ME2. Shepard is going to need a team he can trust so who else is better to do battle against the reapers than his old team and friends in ME2. I've got a gut feeling that instead of concentrateing on getting new team members in the third he's going to be focused on recruiting the other species for the final confrontation. Like Ashley says shepards a god but I think to pull this one off he's going to have to pull an army out of his ass. That army will need ships never mind an elite force of ground troops. So maybe we already have the squad, just need to recruit the army in ME3. .

Thats exactly what I think will happen. We have the squad, the rest will be like in DA:O where we had to get the support of the other races/cities.

So, I was thinking earlier about his and this is how I think ME3 will handle squad mates.

In ME3 we will have:

Tali

Garrus

Liara

Ashley/Kaiden

Legion

MIranda

Jack

Grunt

Jacob

Mordin

Most likely not included:

Wrex - Grunt is sort of a replacement minus the biotics and Wrex will be a cameo etc. as he still needs to lead the clan/save the Krogans. He was also a killable option in ME1.

Thane - He is dieing and will most likely be dead or to ill to fight in the next game.

Samara - Liara replaces her and Samara said she was leaving after the mission. She will most likely cameo as she said she would come to our aid if we ever called.

Morinth - Same deal with Samara, she will go back to killing and hiding and you will have to stop her.

DLC sqaudmates will not be included.

That leaves us with 10 possible sqaud mates.

Non sqaud mate returns:

EDI

Joker

Dr. Chawkwa

Well, I hope to see Garrus kos hes may favourite.
Then I'd like to play with Wrex! If not as squad m8, then maybe in some sub-mission, but i want to play with Wrex!
I guess you're right with Thane, though i like him a lot and i hope we'll see him in 3.
Joker FTW
The rest is kind'a obvious

Since this is the final part of the trilogy (and Shepard's story) it would seem likely that they would go farther in the consequences of choices this time around.

As such I hope to see squad members of the both previous installments to at least return and several of them to be recruitable. You don't need a larger number of people tagging along however.

Well, I think we will get at least 8 squadmates if not 10. A combination of our ME1 and ME2 sqaudmates.

I had a list of likely squaddies, including 4 from each game, which will leave room for new ones.

Liara, Kaiden/Ashley, Garrus, Tali, Miranda/Jack, Jacob, Samara/Grunt and Legion. Each character has motivation to fight with Shepard, as well as a "side" reason for staying around.

Bioware is amazing...they'll find a way to bring back your living characters without throwing them out of the big picture

I have to believe that....it's what keeps me going....*cries as a shadow of doubt crosses his mind*

Also realize that this is the Finale of Shepard's Story in ME3. I'm truly hoping for a Unique Gameplay Experience, based on the choices I made in 1 & 2. All Bets are off. I'm really hoping for a 3-4 Disc game to incorporate a lot of the Deviations that can occur with the Decisions in 1 & 2.
