No, you're not the only one.

As I've already posted on another thread, I found the relationship with Miranda very fulfilling and balanced. I felt like my male Shep was interacting with an equal, both on a physical and psychological level.

And the payoff at the end if you have Miranda on your team when you decide to destroy the collectors base is very satisfying. She ends up justifying your trust and all the effort you put into a relationship with her in a big way.

Some here seem to think just because there's a very prominent physical component to Miranda's relationship, it isn't as deep as one with Tali. I disagree. Sex is just as important in relationships as emotions. It's the balance that makes them great relationships.

Regarding Tali and Jack, I can't help but see them as two little girls who need protection and guidance. I definitely do not see them as psychological equals to Miranda and my male Shepard. To put it simply, I see Jack and Tali as teenagers, while to me Miranda is an adult.

Interesting point.

Perhaps her being more of an equal to Shepard than just another awed follower is what's compelling about her in comparison to the others?

She is my favorite of the new LIs for MaleShep. Don't know if I'll like her quite as much as Ash and Liara, but we'll see... She has to make it to ME3 first.

This may have been true of Tali in ME1, but she's certainly matured since then. The romance with her itself doesn't really display this as much as her non-romance dialogue, but that's because she turns into a babbling pile of adorable when she's nervous, like any proper tech geek girl in fiction. :D

As for Miranda, I didn't pursue that option, but I really felt a connection with her. Normally I hate "cursed with awesome" stuff, too, as an obvious fellow TVTropes browser referenced, but I think Miranda's problem with her enhancements was something I could relate to. She was confident in her abilities, but not enough to own those abilities. Being artificially amazing from birth makes it hard to feel a sense of accomplishment, since you have no idea if you'd be anywhere near as successful without your artifical awesome. And the fact that she tells Illusive Man to shove it at the end was incredible. I felt confident telling the Illusive Man I'd be running Cerberus from now on, knowing I had a badass lieutenant like Miranda at my side.

Can't this topic be summed up with a simple: I'd hit it?

Tali too, irl, not joking.

Tali developed as a character since 1, but to me her character still felt very teenagerish, especially regarding any kind of romance options.

I agree with the teenager stuff on Tali and Jack, because I felt like I had to babysit them. I had to go and fix Tali's daddy problems, and I had to make Jack quit crying because she thought she was still in her childhood whining about how hard it was. Miranda's problem was saving her little sister from a sick father, something very in the present, and something you could say is daddy issues too, but not for her. Her mission was to help someone else, not herself. Like I've said, I can respect the Tali arguments, but the Jack arguments are silly. She's a typical whiner about how hard her childhood was. Well, so was Shepard's, but did he whine and cry about it? Now, he saved the galaxy, twice, so maybe she should start taking some pointers from Shep and do something instead of cry.

I too loved Miranda as an LI. I was quite pissed at Ashley with her lack of understanding. She didn't even try to listen to you. Then again, I didn't like Ashley to begin with. Only chose her cause I wasn't interested in Liara. Seemed like Ash was too high strung, and too focused on proving herself. Never showed any true emotion.

Miranda ended up being very different from what I expected. I ended up loving her character. Her loyalty mission, along with further pursuit of her as an LI showed she wasn't afraid to show her emotions, let them out, or admit to Shep what bother's her. Ashley was a bottled up peice of work. Miranda had inadiquecy's, but at least she wasn't afraid to open up about it. And Shep was able to kind of help Miranda find comfort with who she was and what she was...given.

I just hope that for the third game, Miranda plays a bigger role and comes back as an LI and a squadmate more than how the whole thing played out with Ashley. If something like that happens with Miranda, I'll be upset.

"I'm right there with you Jersey, I'm concerned that I may not be able to
keep my ME2 LI, because I really felt nothing for the ME1 LIs. I would
rather ALL of the ME2 LI's than Ashley or Liara, there was just nothing
there. Tali, Jack, and Miranda to me were all better choices than Ash
or Liara, even though I couldn't stand Jack, I hate stereotypes. But
either way, I'd rather have the ME2 romances over ME1 in ME3 all the
way."

Makes me wonder if I shouldn't totally just blow Ash off on Horizon. Get her fully out of the way so hopefully in the 3rd game, if she shows up, she won't play as big of a role as a former LI and screw things up for me and Miranda. Lol.

Okay, I have to know, how do you call your LI's to your room after the suicide mission? I've read people saying you could, but I've never figured out just how.

Miranda's... all right, I guess. She didn't do much for me; not all that many of the ME2 squad members did, except for Legion and they showed up way too late. For LIs, I'm devoted to Liara forever.

I think miranda is the best by far and I am not just saying that because of the really hot love scene in the engine room, but because that the reationship between shepard and miranda seems to be the only one that seems to take full advantage of the characters interaction and the situation.

Miranda is the only L1 my Shep is interested in after the Horizon Ashley incident...grrrr! Miranda appeals to my Shep because she seems more of an equal and frankly my Shep is only interested in a relationship with another human...not that he is racist in anyway but that is just the way he swings

She's also the only LI for my shepards. My main shepard has no romance in ME1, and only Miranda in ME2. I can't imagine my shepard with someone else. I don't know what will happen in ME3, but he will fight for her.

That LI path hasn't really appealed to me with Miranda. I might do it on a playthrough I do of ME2 again soon.

what relationship ? several lines about Cerberus and her father, fear of loss and thats it ?
There was no personality whatever, no struggle, just great ass and need do hit it, And yes an atractive actress

LotSB kinda pointed out how a romance should work, on both sides, Miranda was just disappointing. the worst LI so far

I romanced Miranda on one of my Renegade playthroughs and I didn't like it, it felt more like a one night stand rather than a romantic relationship. The engine room further puts the nail in the coffin for me. I'm always staying with Ash now.

The love scene in the engine room destroyed whatever shreds of respect I had for her character. It's not like there was a lack of any other place for them to make the beast with two backs; Miranda has quarters that are nearly as spacious as Shepard's. But no, she has to show everyone that Shepard is hers now. In that case, why didn't she simply urinate on my bed, because that's obviously the level she's acting on?

Liara and Tali's romances simply felt more mature, and there was more a sense that they actually cared about Shepard as a person. Miranda's felt more like it was her personal quest to obtain the "prize" that is Shepard.

But of course, your mileage may vary. I'm sure many people thought Miranda's romance was the dog's bollocks. That's fine, but I wouldn't want to serve on a boat with them. I'm not cleaning up the engine room after they're done.

There is a thread dedicated to Miranda in the ME1 & 2 Characters and Fan Creations Forum.
