Mass Effect 2: Attack of the Daddy Issues

Just like the TV show Lost, there seems to be hardly a character that doesn't have this particular psychological ailment. Kelly has her work cut out for her in the therapy department.
Tali's father was distant, and then he dies.
Miranda's father was evil.
Grunt doesn't have a true father, but he called his creator such and you can't exactly call their relationship healthy.
Jacob's father was a megalomaniacal jerk.
Garrus mentioned in ME1 about a strained relationship with his dad.
Thane made no mention of his parents. However, he was instead responsible for Kolyat's daddy issues.
Samara's issues with Morinth could similarly be classified as daddy issues, depending on the specifics of Morinth's parentage.
Legion is a robot, and thus has no father. Still, he is Geth, and his biggest conflict is with his 'fathers', the Quarians.
Next thing we'll find out is that Mordin has an illegitimate son that he shunned for not being a super-genius, Zaeed has a bounty huntress daughter that is actively trying to kill him and TIM actually knew about Jack's experiments and volunteered her himself, because he is actually... her father!

No this is accurate. Almost all of the missions involve family and to a further extent, trust. The whole game is about trust from Cerberus down to your crew.

People normally trust their family more than anything in the world so it makes sense for all of them to have loyalty issues. Solving these issues helps to reaffirm their faith in the world and by extension, you. Garrus was betrayed by a man he had come to depend on but Shepard was there for him and helped him come to grips with it. All of these characters were abused by the world in a sense and become their own family, the Normandy.

exactly. the plot centers around facing suicidal odds together. having the trust of the people at Shepard's back is imperative.

Also Wrex was almost killed by his father and then killed his father.
Ashley's father was a royal **** up in the alliance and she was paying for it.

Apparently in the 22nd century daddy issues are rampant?
Just look outside today if you want to see daddy issues... by the 22nd century, daddy issues have become a time honoured galactic tradition.

That's why you imagine psychological symptoms where there aren't. Hee-hee.

Well, even our own Engineers have some kind of daddy-issues, mentioning " Daddy-Bags! "
The prescence of the Father is a constant in our lives and the spirit is omni-present.
