Many of the species resemble different races or cultures in modern day (Or not necessarily) society, and from the first initial look they would fit the bill of being "Gypsies", but obviously there is more to it than that. One though that really annoyed me though, is that not every quarian spoke with the same faintly eastern european accent that had become their trademark.

For example, the admirals on the board judging Tali - one was the voice actor for Morrigan, one for Loghain and the other I didn't recognise, but they were all clearly british, or at least attempting to be. And then the Quarian marine Kal'Reager was it? Who had a cheesy American accent, wtf?

Really bugged me for some reason. All the other races had their specific way of talking, and accents that characters conformed to. Anyway, that's my little piece over. Did it bother anyone else?

Admirals most likely never go away from the fleet much, while on the other hand Kal is a marine and goes around fighting. While I may be drawing straws, he might've lost his accent being outside the fleet for a while.

People have different dialects and accents depending on where they live, obviously. For quarians the accent probably varies from ship to ship.

Either way, the accent is kind of moot from a lore perspective since none of them speak English to begin with.

not to mention the quarian at Illium in the bar who sounds like a god damn blond chick (the giddy girly ones)

made me think she was Britny spear easter egg, made me want to kill her.

living among people that speak differently from yourself often changes your own inflections. with the Quarians' pilgrimages it's not surprising to hear a variety of speech patterns.

Mmm true, I never took into account the pilgrimages - but still, it's a very big range from what we see.

I had a problem with it too, even though it's true that with translators they probably shouldn't have accents in the first place... It just threw me out of the experience. What bugged me the most is Tali's dad having that really bad German accent when she herself has one more similar to Russian.

See, even that is more believable because Germany and Russia are more similar in culture and dialects than Russia and America.

Also, I changed the title of the thread ;)
