Is it just me or does NG+ suck?

Why did they think it was a good idea to take away all of your armor, health, biotic, and weapon upgrades?  I'm sorry, but your little scanning planet mechanic isn't fun enough to do it in every single playthrough.

I was looking forward to re-playing the game again on Insanity, but now I don't anymore since my Shepard has been gimped to hell. :(

It's crap. Not only do you not get the stuff you ended your ME playthrough with but you also don't get any the same bonuses you get for importing from ME1 or even any Paragon or Renegade points. It adds nothing and is inferior to ME1 import.

Wait, what?

I was just about to start a NG+, but they don't let you keep that sort of stuff? Wth? What's the point of it then, bah!

You didn't keep Paragon and Renegade points in ME1 either.

No, but you did keep your charm/intimidate skill bonuses gained from them.

I meant the alignment bonuses from the ME1 import.

You don't get charm and intimidate skill from paragon and Renegade, it was a skill point.

That's what the problem is for NG+. The planet minigame is boring to all hell and slow as all hell which combined makes it the worst minigame yet for ME and one of the worst I've seen in general. Not to mention I've almost hit the level 30 cap(around 27) which means I'm only going to be doing the NG+ for the import into ME3. So I have to suffer with the minigame in order to have the best import.

Yes, actually you did.  After getting enough of either meter filled you would earn bonus free points in charm or intimidate, depending on which meter you filled.  This way, it was possible to get a total of four free points in either or both meters in one playthrough without actually spending any skill points in charm or intimidate manually, if the player so chose.

You get a free point in both for becoming a spectre, and then like I said up to three bonus points for having certain amounts of paragon/renegade points.

Yes, you could.I think you could get 4 free Charm/Intimidate points for filling up the respective bars, a point for every 25% I think. You also got points in tem each time you became a SPECTRE.That's how I got full Charm without putting any points into it myself.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Bioware patched the game so all that stuff wasn't removed? Sadly, they would never do that. :(

It was really silly and this is something that needs to be patched. It makes Insanity a demonic chore from hell itself.

You get to keep your rank, weapons and team points but the team points could only be of proper use after you gained loyalty from squad members so you can put them in their unlocked skill ability.

30 points isn't enough and NG+ feels like a useless chore and certainly not rewarding enough to keep the fun in a 2nd play through.

Especially when you can pretty much achieve everything in one playthrough.  You can get to level 30, get all squad members loyal, get them all through alive (if that's your goal), get all upgrades, etc. in one playthrough as long as you're thorough.

I don't know...

I'm on my third play through now. Mostly to collect as many weapons as I can (Such as the Geth rifle and the other weapons from the Collector ship.), and to experience the other LIs.

There are trainers you know, that will just give you max resources and whatnot. I've never bothered with them, because I don't mind scanning. It -is- a little annoying having to bypass and hack all that crap over again just to get the upgrades. Hacking isn't bad, but bypassing can get annoying after the first few times.

I'm just doing NG+ to be able to survive the Insanity difficulty, for branching out with the plot and etc I'd rather reuse my ME1 saves.

It's much better than nothing. I can now create a ME3 character with the choices I really want :]

I agree that there are some things that could be improved. However, with how the news was changing right before ME2 went gold I'm happy they made the effort to try and give us something to work with. I will be using it a lot.

This...i'm almost done with my insanity playthrough, and I can say without a doubt that in addition to team AI being atrocious and enemies having 3 stacks of health, the upgrades not carrying over is just a slap in the face.

Worst part of the game (feature wise) is the scanning...and you are forced to scan EVERY SINGLE PLAYTHROUGH if you want to even make it to the collector base.

If ME3 doesn't get rid of the crappy NG+ /scanning I'll consider only playing it once :P I'd also like to see the developer that even suggested the scanning system be tied to a bed and tickled by lepers for 8 hours as punishment.

I don't even see myself beating ME2 again.

I'm pretty sure all your armor and guns were blown to hell when the collectors blew you up.
