Not playing an awesome AAA game because you think one element of the OPTIONAL SIDE missions is annoying is fool hardy. But, hey it's not like your trying to drive a wonky physics vehicle up a steep mountain instead of around it, right?
The resource scanning? Yeah, that's not optional. Not if you want to survive to the end of the game. There's only enough resources to get the required upgrades if you do a bunch of the other optional side missions and collect everything during your run. And then you can forget about most of your party upgrades.
