I ended up liking the gun to the face reaction. I showed him what it was like to be TRULY extreme.

It might be the source of the problem. Once I get to the Conrad encounter - I unchecked the intimidate thing and hopefully this has corrected the problem - I will see if there is a paragon conversation.

I'm just going through ME1 again at the moment, and up until today I was always nice to Conrad; I humoured the poor shmuck up to a point. Today, for the first time, I shoved the gun in his face, something I probably would never have done without this bug raising its head.

I'm getting mean in my old age... I laughed my ass off at his reaction :)

Conrad was fine for me.

But the consort - I did her quest, all ended peacefully with the turian general, yet I hear she leaves the citadel because of rumors of intel leaks etc.

Checked my save file with save editor - consort quest doen, trinket received, trinket used.

Its either a bug or the devs made the Consort leave the citadel anyway.

Why are people getting so uppity and nitpicky about this? Just because of one line he says? You do realise after that you can still be Paragon with him right, least I managed to. Besides we're talking about conrad here, the guy pretending to be a spectre ie. a big flaming liar.

That's how I treated the conversation. Was funny at the end when chose the paragon option in response to resolving the situation and Conrad was like "Really?!?! after Shep told him it was a sting operation and Conrad had played an influential part in it lol the face Conrad pulled as he said that word was priceless.

It would really be nice if some dev would comment on the two import issues people keep bringing up, Conrad and the Consort, to let us know if they work or are bugged.

The one that bugs me the most is the one that cant be patched, the Sirta foundation quest from ME1 cant really be changed since the game data was bugged back in ME1.

Why does it default to mostly Renegade options when starting a new playthrough? I thought we'd be able to choose, I have several import options, but it doesn't cover all backgrounds & both genders. In fact, I don't have a male shepard from ME1 saved, not that I completed the game with. So when I made a new one after realizing there's no good fem/fem romance in ME2 (besides Kelly which is more of a booty call if that), is when I first found out Wrex isn't there, the council dies, etc.....

Really, I'd be happier to select from a list at the start of a new game all the choices that carry over, how I want them. I was under the impression this is how it would be when not using an imported character... kind of crazy that I have go through all of ME1 again (after doing so several times already) just to get the options I want to be the truth in my characters Mass Effect universe.

The glitches people are reporting do need to be fixed, but more importantly I would say so does the way it defaults on mostly all renegade options when creating a new character.

I honestly don't like how things are without the original Council and Udina in charge despite me selecting Anderson in the dialogue options, every time so far.

On my import everything seemed okay, I remember Conrad saying something like he did what I said... so I don't believe I got the glitch that others are reporting. I don't recall him saying anything about a gun, unless I was half asleep and still trying to play which is possible.. I do that sometimes. All of my decisions even with news reports, seemed accurate (I used a paragon import and yes I saved every drugged up wandering scientist, etc..)... the only thing that bothers me is creating a new character, I'm confined to choices I don't want and it is kinda silly to have to put in the hours to do other playthroughs in ME1 just so I can make a character with a different background, gender, and name... as opposed to having some sort of menu or questionnaire to select the options from in ME1.

Or maybe an "Import decisions from this file, but start new character" option.. that wouldn't be so bad but being able to change the decisions and see how it impacts ME2 would be nice.

Luckily the game is still amazing, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who would like to see this addressed with a patch.

Be happy. This should help with import issues if you play on the PC.

The only choices in ME 2 from the first game that I am concerned about are the ones you cannot rectify. Conrad, even if it assumes you were a jerk, can be given the Paragon response anyway. It was weird to hear about Sirta foundation and the Consort though. It was like helping them meant nothing in the end...

The Sirta Foundation didn't bother me, even though I saved everyone. I mean, there still was a lot of nonsense that was going to be a pain for them come the next segment of Business Weekly. As for the Consort, that one and Conrad were a bit jarring.

Maybe the Consort thing isn't a bug? Afterall that turian general doesn't actually publically announce he was the one spilling the secrets. Perhaps the rumors simply continued to persist.

What system do you play on.

What OS if you are on a PC.

If on PC, are you still using the same OS you were using when you finished your ME1 save, or have you since wiped your computer, and moved the save file using a USB, if on 360, has anything happened to it in that time ( RROD, etc )

If on 360, did you save ME1 to your Hard Drive, or not, if you did, did you also save ME2 to your HDD.

I dunno, but giving information like this can lead to Bioware possibly fixing the issue a bit faster, as they have to do less tests, personally, I never saw Verner, and got an email later telling me he was glad I was back, and that he was helping people out the best way he knew how, ala, giving money to orphans and whatnot because I was Earthborn, I assume this is the Paragon choice, meaning my save transferred correctly.

For me, I am using the PC version, Win7, both games were installed on the same OS, I only recently got ME1, so my save is still current, and did not need to be transferred to a USB, Sirta recovered, Shaira stayed on the Citadel, and Conrad never appeared and was giving out money to people, meaning my save worked perfectly.

Conrad was lying for the benefit of the bartender that was watching. He gives a sideways glance before he says it.

hm, it actually made sense to me. Conrad was always a little out of it, thinking his wife supported him by paying for having him far far ..... far away *lol*, and he had that picture of me holding up my gun. I can actually imagine him standing in front of that, talking to it and getting all kind of ideas.

The Consort, well you help her, but rumors have a way to getting around, all you did, was stop the Turian from doing more, and getting the Elcor to apologize. But the Rumor was already spread. There is nothing you can do to stop it. Also: A lot of people seem to visit the Consort. Hard to imagine no one falling in love with her in those two years.

The base: Even if you didn't kill anyone, the scientists were still labeled as "insane" afterwards. Helping them to get better, dealing with the public fallout, that all those people were taken as hostage, etc. Entirely possible that they didn't recover from that.

It doesn't, I checked (read my post in your thread)

It's not a bug, devs just decided to go that way with it

I'll be honest, even though I told him to go home in the first game instead of shoving a gun in his face, this side quest was too much fun to lose. If only every mistake ever made in a game was this fulfilling.

But she was blue!

Thanks but I primarily play it on the 360.   PC is just be for community-made mods, expansions, skins, etc....  not my serious play-throughs.  I appreciate it though   =)

There is a way to do that for the 360 too, however I wouldn't myself nor would I recommend it to anyone.   It should just be there in the game, I doubt that it's something that is extremely complicated in the gaming industry.  The news, npc reactions, etc... are already built into the game.   Certain code within the save will determine what's on and off... yes and no, what took place and what didn't, etc... they could have a menu, questionnaire, etc.. at the beginning of a new game to select those options for people who want to make a completely different or even slightly different Shepard without having to go through ME1 again.. although it's a great game and many probably will eventually, but when you're ready to start up a new ME2 play-through, you wan to do just that.. not have to take a bunch of other steps in order for it to be how you want it.

I interpretated that line as Conrad just making **** up.   Conrad bought  replica N7 armor even though he has absolutely no combat training, let alone combat experience.  Makes sense he'd invent 'war stories' to bolster his street cred.

Conrad: Oh yeah and then you shoved a gun in my face.  You showed me how to be truly extreme.
ParaShep: What the **** are you talking about?  I never did that.
Conrad: Of course you did!  It was when you and I blew up that pirate frigate.
ParaShep: Blew up...?  Conrad, you've never been on my missions!
Conrad: Oh, that's right.  You have to deny it because it was all classified.  I get it.
ParaShep: GAAAAH! (shoots Conrad in the foot.)

I got this glitch, too, and when it happened the injustice of it really stung me. I was so nice to Conrad!

This isn’t the only thing, though. I got the same news report about the Consort, and I cleared that whole thing up.

Also, I heard something about the Sirta Foundation never recovering from an attack by biotic extremists. What? I completed that quest and rescued every hostage without casualties. Grr. Does going out of your way to be paragon count for nothing?

All three of those confirmed as errors on my end. I didn't bully Conrad, I saved the dignity of the consort, and I stopped the Biotic Extremists without losing a single researcher.

Bioware need to sort this issue out. Like anything, it's the little things that count. All those little good and bad things you did in the first being remembered in the second, Fans like that sort of thing and when you did something good in the first and it changes in the second it really dissheartens people.
Hopefully this will be a bug that they sort out at some point, or maybe they're just encouraging everyone to be renegade. Considering the fact that when they showed off ME1 and ME2, they always played as a renegade shepard. Also the default backstory is the actions of renegade. They should have allowed you to choose a paragon or renegade backstory if you started a new game without importing an old character.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's a hardware problem or laziness on Bioware's part.
